Who is BUTCH CLEAVER?

Legend has it...In the town of Oubliette lived a brutal butcher named Butch Cleaver,  Townsfolk say he was murdered then resurrected by a voodoo hex that granted him power to control and weaponize bone, now he uses said power for revenge, reckoning and possibly redemption.

If you threw Batman, Swamp Thing, Jonah Hex and Hellboy into a meat grinder then BUTCH CLEAVER would come out.  With influences of Spaghetti Westerns, SIN CITY, EVIL DEAD and horror movies from the last 80 years BUTCH CLEAVER a 72 page fantasy/horror/western might make the cut that your aiming for to add to your comic collection.

What We Need & What You Get

We need to hit our goal.  The funds we are raising are going to the printing of the book, the packaging, shipping, taxes etc...This goal does not include paying me (Matt).  The book is 90% finished I just need to do all the last edits and new campaign art, hopefully stretch goals etc..then it's off to the printers.

The Impact

My name is Matt Burke, I'm an indie comics artist/writer, and creator of BUTCH CLEAVER.  BUTCH CLEAVER is a book almost a decade in the making.  It has always been my dream to make comics and entertain people with them that's why I'm excited to launch BUTCH CLEAVER a part 1 of a 3 part monster arch that I will continue to put my blood, sweat, and tears into.

With this book I wanted to tell a story in a Gothic universe where some of my favorite archetypes (cowboys, vikings, banditos, pirates, barbarians, historical figures, legendary figures and folkloric figures.. to name a few) could interact with each other.  I printed 3 issues of BUTCH CLEAVER over the last few years and I have done a successful couple of conventions and signings promoting the story and I think Indiegogo is the next step in bringing Butch to a wider audience.  This campaign would include the first three issues in one perfect bound graphic novel, the best book it could possibly be.  I have created a whole universe of characters and stories that I want to share with the world and BUTCH CLEAVER is a stepping stone into that universe.

Risks & Challenges

I am still new to the comics industry and I can promise you that I will always do my best to grow as an artist, writer, story teller and entertainer, but I need your help on this quest to get me there.  This is not a political propaganda pamphlet, just a 90's style influenced comic that will hopefully help you escape reality and entertain you for a bit

I was told I couldn't be an artist, and I keep drawing,  I was told I couldn't make a comic, so I became a self publisher.  I never give up, now I am here and with your help we can make BUTCH CLEAVER LEVEL-UP.
