What it's About.
C-Block is a mixture of a lot of things I like. There's a little pulp noir, 80's action,
some standard fare sports movie, and even a segment based on soap operas. I
feel mixing all of these things into something as off beat yet exciting as roller
derby would be a entertaining project to work on. Every part of the story will have
a completely different feel and look to it.
It focuses on a small team brought together somewhat randomly through chilling
circumstances and pulled into even darker circumstances following some events
and the pursuit of the almighty dollar.
The series (the first season anyway) will be broken up into 6 thirty minute (give or
take) episodes. But before we get into all that, we need to make this pilot.
What We Need & What You Get
This is a film project, and these get rather expensive when you're working with dozens upon dozens of people who won't and should not work for free.
We also need.
-Cameras
-Lights
-Skates
-Locations
-Many trips to Home Dept to build some ridiculous rigs for said cameras.
It's the process of creating a world from scratch with a ton of moving parts.
In return, you get to support and interesting cross section of media and roller derby. Something that doesn't come around too often (love Whip It by the way, great movie, Check it out.)
You can also earn yourself credits in the final cut.
The Impact
We're always trying to find new and interesting stories to tell. And combining Roller Derby with all these wonderful sub genres is really something that sounds too amazing to miss. I like to make things that I would take time out to watch.
You will be surprised at the awesomeness.
Roller Derby is also a wonderful sport that many people just haven't been able to experience yet. Anything that can at least get someone googling it is a major win.
Risks & Challenges
It's a film project, so there are a ton of moving parts that all need to be taken care of. We can always work on the bare minimum. However, it really limits what we can do. That would mean fewer cameras and even fewer people. This could affect the project in major ways. We just want to deliver the best project we can, and do it quickly.
