What the heck is c60?
C60 (the ‘buckminsterfullerene’) is an all carbon compound that, when taken together with olive oils, has been reported to greatly increase the lifespan of laboratory rats. Some people are already taking this compound (see the C60 health forum) because of its purported antioxidant properties, but its effects on cancer are largely unknown.

What effects will c60 have on cancer?
Human cancers and mouse cancers can behave differently, so there are many contradictions in the scientific literature that we need to sort out:
But...
So...
- We need to determine what effect c60 will have on human cancer using a xenograft model (immunocompromised mouse strain that is administered human cancer cells, and grows them).
- Specifically, this campaign will support a study to look at the effects of c60 on proliferation of the human leukemia line KG1a.
- If this campaign is over funded, this study will be expanded to examine the effects of c60 on metastasis and primary tumor growth in solid tumors.
We need to raise $18,500 to answer this question, and we are already 2/3 of the way there!!
Longecity.org and a private donor have teamed up to match every dollar donated in this campaign (up to $6,000) with $2. That means we only need to raise $6,500!!
-
100% of donations are applied to direct research expenses, up to $6,000
- Every $1 donated is matched by $2, up to $6,000
- Get great perks such as t-shirts, naming a mouse, or receiving a signed book
- Your donation is tax-deductible
Who will do the research?
All research for this project will be conducted under the direction of Kelsey Moody, Mr. Moody is a biotechnology entrepreneur in Syracuse, NY. As a medical student at SUNY Upstate Medical University, he founded Ichor Therapeutics, where he currently serves as CEO. In 2014 he transferred to the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine to begin a Ph.D. in Industrial Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Previously, Mr. Moody served as CTO at ImmunePath, a venture capitalist backed stem cell therapy company in Silicon Valley. Before ImmunePath, he founded the SENS Foundation Academic Initiative, a student development program. Mr. Moody received a BS from SUNY Plattsburgh and an MBA from Concordia University.
You can read more about his professional background here.
The company is fully equipped with quality scientific infrastructure, including:
- Mammalian cell culture laboratory
- Performance analytical machines (automated hematology analyzer, flow cytometer, and more!!)
- SCID vivarium (a climate controlled clean room and "mouse house")

Other ways to help
While money helps, it isn't the only way to contribute:
- Get the word out and share this campaign with your friends using the Indiegogo share tools.
- Want to do research? Apply now for an internship or volunteer experience at the company.
From the entire Ichor Team, thank you for your support!!

This project has received a 3-star rating from LongeCity.org, an international, not-for-profit, membership-based organization ("501-3-c status" in the United States) focusing on advocacy and research for unlimited lifespans.
|
A 3-star rating means the organization has arranged for peer-review of the project proposal and not only deemed it viable from a scientific, technical and managerial perspective, but of such potential importance to its mission that it has decided to match donations received. LongeCity will review periodic reports from the Ichor Team and in order to monitor the scientific integrity of the study and that funds are spend appropriately. LongeCity will also facilitate an on-going public conversation between the community and the researchers. DETAILS HERE
