Melissa Mars (Compositor) speak to the project:

[ENG] The Film : The most famous draftsman known for the adventures of the Disney dukes’ family such as Scrooge or Donald embodied inspiration to many artists in the world. Through this documentary on Carl Barks's life, we are going to speak about his life, his work within Disney and the influences he had on the world of the art. Through archives and recent and old interviews we shall learn more about this character that was Carl Barks. We are in full preparation for filming with the old Disney archives and in preparation of new interviews that we will shoot until November 2014. We hope an early 2015 release of the documentary.

[ENG] Early in his career as a draftsman, Carl Barks “Duck Man” did not exclusively devoted to the Disney universe.
Between 1943 and 1947 he drew 33 stories with characters of Walter Lantz (Andy Panda), Leon Schlesinger (Porky Pig), Metro Goldwyn Mayer (Happy Hound, Droopy and especially Barney Bear and Benny Burro).

[ENG] Disney’s year, his legacy: From all the artists of the Disney school, it was Carl Barks that will imagine a world around Duck Disney starting with Scrooge McDuck (which appears for the first time in Christmas on Bear Mountain in 1947), followed by the horrifying Gladstone Gander (1948), devious The Beagle Boys (51), the amazing Gyro Gearloose (52), the Machiavellian Flintheart Glomgold (56), delicious Daisy and her nieces, April, May, June, (65) - and a world too quickly cataloged "children" (the fault of the other authors who resumed). Note that from 51, Barks was also interested in the Junior Woodchucks whose first real adventure was born in 1968. Barks will seek to invent interesting and non-repetitive stories, avoiding nonsense that is sometimes specific to Disney comics. So inventive that he was the source of great ideas copied in films like Raiders of the Lost Ark (this time with worship where Indiana Jones is pursued by a huge ball prompting him to run away). George Lucas and Steven Spielberg took this inspiration, Barks does not inspire the cinema but the video game Goin 'Quackers! dedicated to him. Other form of tribute, where Andy Warhol painting and a painting of Donald Duck and Kaj Stenvall who creates sad paintings.

[ENG] What's the Money For? : The movie is still at the beginning of the shooting process but to make this movie we were able to combine many archives from Disney which show the work of Barks and old interviews of his colleagues or fans of his work speaking about him.
Stenvall : Painter

We make such a documentary and obtain new interviews, things are expensive, we need you to complete the budget to finance the animation of the introduction and the narrative, the transportation to make the interviews, the licenses, the music, the insurances and the unforeseen. What we offer is a new vision of Carl Bark's life, exciting and entertaining.
