Carlos Arzate...
Greetings! Carlos Arzate here, from Carlos Arzate & The Kind Souls. I am a singer, songwriter and family man from Tucson, Arizona. Maybe you've heard my songs on KXCI in Tucson or KWSS in Phoenix, or maybe you've followed my previous bands, American Android and Innisfail. Maybe you’ve never heard of me at all. Either way, here’s what’s up:
The music industry is a strange beast. Managing it realistically while simultaneously being a committed father and husband has been a daunting task. But since I can’t fathom a life without music I keep finding ways to continue working inside of that tension. It certainly helps that my family has been totally supportive.
Music for me is cathartic. It’s my religion and an expression of how I see the world. From a shy teenager singing in a church, to shouting into a megaphone at rock shows, to the folk, soul and latin of Carlos Arzate & The Kind Souls, I’ve passionately wanted to connect to people through music. And as I walk the line now between raising a family, and touring around the southwest, I feel like the songs I write more and more reflect a desire to make the world a good place for my kids to thrive. Not just live, but thrive. A place where we find common ground, where we sing about the things we love, the things we are for, and not just the things we’re against.
So I’ve written a new full-length record, my first with Carlos Arzate & The Kind Souls, and all the songs in some way are about that search for common ground. This spring I’m going into the studio with Ryan Alfred, of Sweet Ghosts and Calexico fame, to lay it all down.
And that’s where you come in.
...The Kind Souls
Everything I have done as a performer has been by the grace of others --- from musicians who perform with me, the bands/promoters/booking agents and club owners who work with me, the DJ's who play my music, to my family who cheers me on --- I am held up by a community of the kindest souls.
So would you consider being one of those souls? Partnering with me, with my family, and with this amazing city of artists and musicians, to make the first-ever Carlos Arzate & The Kind Souls full-length album?
If you look over here to your right, you’ll see some sweet rewards for contributing at different $ levels. From signed CDs, to getting your name in the CD artwork, to you and I co-writing a song together, to having Carlos Arzate & The Kind Souls come play in your kitchen. You’ll literally be putting a microphone to my voice, you’ll feel fantastic knowing you played a pivotal role in making these songs come to life, and you'll get some rewards that are very valuable to me.
Please consider being a part of this. And thanks so much for being a kind soul!
