Story of My Book
My name is Brian Asingia and I am the author of Cashless Society 101. I wrote this book to explore the intersection between Data, A.I and Society, and how individuals, public and private institutions can do right in a world that normalizes and rewards unethical leadership and exclusive innovation. My goal is to help others find a moral compass in the fourth industrial revolution. This will help the reader navigate moral dilemmas around ethical leadership and inclusive innovation through the four pillar values of Identity, Ownership, Trust, and Scale.
My hope is that, in reading this book, you will discover that people are hired in technology companies without the proper or timely training to understand the ethical and value transfer consequences of the increasingly complex and automated systems they design and operate. In this book, I hope to instill in you the same sort of passion and excitement that I have for Ethics in a Cashless Society. Dalporto warns that, “If you tried to reskill a billion people in the university system, you would break the university system.” Ultimately, I want you to see this book as a tool to show that because humans create technology, we need to be skeptical of it and work to make it more effective and less biased.
The coolest story I share in this book is Dr. Jose Morey, NASA, White House, Hyperloop Advisor and Forbes Innovation Expert. His greatest accomplishment is founding Ad Astra Media to Bring STEAM to students through space comics and animations that look like them, underpinning the increasing lack of identity representation in science and technology as well as media.
My hope for this book is helping us understand how both as a society and individually we can do better and keep fighting for an ethical and inclusive future, an ethical and inclusive Cashless Society. You will learn:
About Cashless Society as a philosophy, a cashless values based exchange
Why Cashless Society is an ideal technocratic realization that technology is neutral but humans are not
How we can create room for Ethics or Values Based Leadership and Inclusive Innovation in the Fourth Industrial Revolution
You will love / enjoy this book if you are:
In your 20s to 30s seeking to find your own moral compass beyond groupthink lenses of today
An executive or emerging leader anxious about the unknown and how to lead or listen
Someone who values the power of individual agency and accountability
Cashless Society 101 is a nonfiction book that speaks to lifelong student innovators and emerging leaders who want to look at Ethical Leadership and Inclusive Innovation in a new way.
The Book - CASHLESS SOCIETY 101
The book is written in three parts.
Part 1 contains the introduction + chapters 1-3. The book shows how we got here. We explore how technology throughout history has been neutral and it is human behavior and values that are often in need of reflection and adjustment. The value of Ethical Leadership is explored through cash’s relation to greed and Cashless Society defined as a philosophy and technocratic ideal. The author argues that “Technology, though neutral, is a tool for progress towards a better cashless society.”
Part 2 contains chapters 5-8. Principles of ethical innovators and technologists are explored through well researched examples from around the world and the roles of IDENTITY, OWNERSHIP, TRUST and SCALE highlighted. The author shares that “The West takes other cultures and their contributions for granted while the rest of the world is fighting to decolonize innovation.”
Part 3 contains chapters 9-11. The reader is guided on how to drive ethical innovation and technology via a shared value and individual agency moral compass for both individuals and institutions, while exploring the lifelong impacts of automation, data, A.I and society in a Cashless Society. The author shares how “Humans now learn, work, think and act as a herd via group think.” According to the Wall Street Journal, “The business world has become the business of ethics.”
Part 4: contains chapter 12. This is a list of backer-submitted questions from the author’s experience, advisory sessions, workshops and keynotes that will foster thoughtful and meaningful conversations on the role we can each play in advocating for, creating, realizing, and sustaining an ethical and inclusive Cashless Society.
