What is a ChameleonMini ?

ChameleonMini is a versatile tool for practical NFC and RFID security analysis, compliance and penetration tests, and various end-user applications. The freely programmable platform can create perfect clones of various existing commercial smartcards, including cryptographic functions and the Unique Identifier (UID). It can be employed to assess security aspects in RFID and NFC environments in different attack scenarios, such as replay or relay attacks, state restoration attacks, sniffing of NFC communication, or functional tests of RFID equipment. New firmware for the ChameleonMini can be comfortably uploaded via a USB bootloader. A convenient, human-readable command set allows to configure its behavior and update the settings and content of up to eight internally stored, virtualized contactless cards. During battery-powered stand-alone operation, the integrated buttons and LEDs enable user interaction and feedback.

The ChameleonMini created by Kasper & Oswald is a freely programmable, portable tool for ISO14443 / ISO15693 / NFC Security analysis that can emulate & clone contactless cards, read RFID tags and sniff/log RF data.

Team Ideology

Our team’s intention of creating the ChameleonMini Rev G & also the ChameleonTiny was to create something easily available and accessible to the mass consumer market. Without knowing too much about RFID / NFC, you will be able to access and program multiple tags you own into the ChameleonMini / ChameleonTiny.

Our belief is that we remain the product as open source for the community to contribute.

We, RFID Research Group, have done 2 successful crowdfunding campaigns on Kickstarter back in 2018 and also on Crowdsupply during early 2019.

RF Detector Quick Introduction

Process characteristics:
1. The LF coil has high Q, high sensitivity and long luminescence distance using 6-layer plate technology.
2. HF uses a diode voltage doubler circuit, high sensitivity, long luminous distance.
3. LF and HF are placed in the smallest volume without weakening, to ensure the best performance in small size.
4. Using epoxy resin to drop glue craft, ten years is like a new, waterproof and moistureproof, wear-resisting and fall-resistant, can carry.

Button Usage Guide

When the power is off, press any button once to turn on the Bluetooth power, and at the same time, display the current power with a white LED.

In the Bluetooth 'ON' state, click any button to turn off the Bluetooth power, the power LED goes out, and the system sleeps.

Bluetooth will sleep automatically 15 seconds after no operation.

Press any button for a long time, you can quickly check the power, and immediately sleep when you release.

Click the button three times to turn on the power of chameleon. Sleep automatically after 5 seconds without operation.

When shutting down, press and hold the button next to USB and then connect USB. You can enter DFU mode.

Charging: Any time you connect USB, it will automatically start charging. Stop automatically after filling. The white LED indicates the power level.

Detect memory full: If the memory is full during dense flow detection, multiple red LEDs will be abnormally lit.
