Our mission is to harness the vast surplus computing power of the world's idle PCs and use it to help solve humanity's greatest problems.

Charity Engine has about 2000 active PCs on its network. It needs another 5000 to be cash-positive.

Here's our problem: we relied on being able to announce the launch of Charity Engine to our 500,000 Facebook fans but, when the day came, we found that FB had deleted group messaging. The only way we can contact our fans now is by wall posts - which FB only shows to 2% of them...

From our point of view, 490,000 of those fans effectively no longer exist - and we're stuck without them.  

We have people waiting to use the grid, but the grid isn't big enough. In fact, it's not even covering its running costs - and we have no more money in the seed fund for any other marketing.

All is not lost, though.

If you can help us cover the next three months' running costs ($10k per month), an EU science grant will then keep us going for a year - easily long enough to grow the grid to self-sufficiency. We get the grant in September.

CE took over 3 years to develop. It's live, working and has already paid out $30k to the users and charities - which, by co-incidence, is the same amount it needs to survive now.
