What is Charlotte's Shorts? 

Charlotte’s Shorts is the taco truck of comedy. Fast, cheap and delicious. There’s something here for everyone. This live comedy show features some of the world’s greatest actors reading short works of fiction written by Charlotte Dean. Come to a show and you’ll get a glimpse into the minds of the most authentic, loveable, self-centered, clueless and downright awful people you never want to meet (but probably already know).

Charlotte’s Shorts has been performed at various theaters in Los Angeles, including The Groundlings. We were part of the San Francisco Sketch Fest in 2015 and we will be doing 5 shows in the Hollywood Fringe Festival this year. We LOVE doing the show live, and will keep doing it with new stories every year. BUT (and this is where you come in) we also want to take our show to the next level. 

What Exactly Are We Raising Money For?

We are raising money to produce a pilot of Charlotte's Shorts to pitch! The funds we raise will help us cover the cost of filming our upcoming shows in the Hollywood Fringe Festival as well as our post-production costs, including editing, color correction, sound design, etc.  Maybe we pitch it to a network and all these incredible actors become super star gazillionaires. Or maybe we end up with a great DVD the whole family can enjoy (if your kids like sex talk and swearing.) Either way, we want to share Charlotte’s Shorts with more people and we could really use your help!

Funding Breakdown:

Fundraising Goal: $5000

-Camera equipment rental

-Camera crew

-Post production/editing

We have an incredible team of people donating so much of their time and energy to this project. With your help in raising $5000, we will film our next 5 shows with high quality camera equipment. We will shoot 2 to 3 different angles of each show, including audience reactions and some testimonials! Then, we will edit the best of the five shows and produce a pilot of Charlotte’s Shorts.

OR, if that's not your thing, you could get your name featured in a story or have a true story from your past tweaked by me and turned into one of Charlotte's Shorts.

A Personal Note From Charlotte:

What if we don't reach our fundraising goal?

We will still put on all five shows at the Hollywood Fringe Festival and we will still film each show.

HOWEVER- The biggest difference is in the quality of the equipment we rent to film the shows and all the postproduction work. The editing of all the footage and production of our pilot are the most expensive aspects of our project.

Risks & Challenges

As it goes with any creative endeavor, there are always unforeseen obstacles and costs. But the truth is, I have no doubt in my mind that we will make this happen. For us, it’s not a matter of getting it done so much as the quality of how we do it. We will shoot the show on our iPhones if we have to and I will sit at my computer for the next year editing a pilot together in iMovie if that’s what it takes.
