Chikara: The Art of Horimitsu
力
Chikara: A Japanese word meaning power, capability or influence.
Power can mean so many things in life. For tattooer and artist, Horimitsu, power is about inspiration and motivation in his work.
Mitsu has been creating traditional Japanese tattoos for 20 years in Ikebukuro, Tokyo and he gathers inspiration from all around him.
Tokyo is a place like no other and Horimitsu is truly one of a kind! You can see some of his work and life on Instagram.
Art is his passion and he works with clients spanning the globe to give them living pieces of art on their skin.
Although he has been a part of the renowned Horitoshi Family, his work is unmistakably his own.
He is constantly drawing, constantly improving, producing phenomenal pieces on both skin and paper.

The Book
We have collected and presented a wide range of Mitsu's tattoo work and art in a 130-150 page book.
The layout for the book is almost complete!
The cover will be specially designed by Mitsu when the campaign has finished.
The book is divided into three sections: tattoos, sketches (various media) and tigers. Below are some examples!

Stretch Goals
We currently have two stretch goals:
$8500 - More art originals will become available.
$9000 - We will choose the best quality paper offered by the printer, add printed end sheets and have the title of the book foil embossed onto the cover.
Shipping and Fulfillment
When the campaign is over, we will send the book layout off to the printers as soon as possible.
We will then have to wait for proof copies of the book to arrive to ensure they are of the best quality. Then comes the full printing and the books will be shipped to an Amazon warehouse. All completed books will be shipped from the USA using Amazon Fulfillment Services to backers.
Bonus! Original artwork will be sent from either Vancouver or Tokyo as soon as the funds are released so you will not have to wait for the book to get your goodies!
Risks & Challenges
So, what is the risk with this campaign?
Basically, printing a hardcover art book is expensive! The campaign represents what it will cost for us to get a run of professionally printed copies of the book.
If the fundraising
goal is not met, a print-to-order soft cover book will still be
produced for those who ordered the original book.
