Mesh Wi-Fi is a network technology used for airports, malls,
and large enterprises to offer Wi-Fi to hundreds of people and devices at once.
Chime is also the next
generation of online threat protection platform for connected homes. Chime
provides a new layer of security for your connected devices, especially those
not protected by an anti-virus – like Webcams, Thermostats, Printers and your
guests’ devices.

Oh, and did we already tell you that Chime will come with the latest
generation hardware? This will make it a real powerhouse and make your home future ready.

Mesh Wi-Fi is a technology pioneered for airports, malls and enterprises
and one we believe will become the new standard for smart homes.
Chimes use Mesh Wi-Fi technology to communicate with each
other so they share the work of providing a strong and reliable Wi-Fi across
your home. So if a
signal from one Chime becomes weak as you move in the house, another Chime will
be able to provide a stronger signal to your device, without losing
connectivity.

Yes. Unlike many Wi-Fi extenders, Chime will not decrease the speed of your home Wi-Fi. Extenders may reduce the speed of your internet connection by up to 50%, because they often use a single radio to send data between routers and extenders, and to connect to your devices. Chime uses separate and dedicated radios for these tasks. With Chime your internet speed stays as fast as it can be.

Chime
creates a single hotspot for all your devices using both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands.
Newer devices like iPhones and iPads connect to the faster 5Ghz band,
and older devices connect to the slower 2.4Ghz band. It all happens automatically,
so you don’t have to worry about it.

One
– covers a typical apartment
Chime on its own can cover a typical
apartment and support up to 50 devices.
Two
– cover an average house
Chimes are
strong enough to cover an average house and stream
Netflix even from spots that used to get a single bar.
Three
– cover larger homes and gardens
Using three Chimes increases the
Wi-Fi coverage enough for even larger homes and gardens.

As the number of internet-connected devices in our homes is increasing, the number of potential entry points into our homes is also increasing. A recent study carried out by HP showed that 70 percent of the most commonly used Internet of Things devices contain serious vulnerabilities (HP, 2014).
Many of these devices have access to sensitive information, such as your address, whether or not you are home, health information and even banking information. This makes connected devices an interesting target for hackers. Especially ones that are not protected by an anti-virus like Webcams, Thermostats and Printers.
We believe the best way to protect your family and devices is by securing your connected home at the internet access point, the router.

Running our campaign on Indiegogo is not about raising funds, but about engaging directly with people who want and need Chime.
Our goal is to protect people, their families and
devices. In the new paradigm of the connected home, we found that the best way
to this is by running security software on the home network to safeguard your connected devices. The logical place for this software is the
router.
However, our research showed that many people are
unsatisfied with their home Wi-Fi. That’s why we developed Chime: to give people the best possible Wi-Fi
connection and connected home security in one.
Although we are an established software company, hardware is new
for us. That’s why we want to connect with people directly to get their
feedback and validate our solution. The Indiegogo platform is perfect for
this purpose.

1. Can I expect better Wi-Fi performance?
Yes, we designed Chime to improve your Wi-Fi connection, though your mileage may vary. We designed Chime using Mesh Wi-Fi Technology. Multiple Chimes that work together give you stronger and more reliable signal in the corners of your home. Existing routers can’t give you that. Each Chime is a powerful 802.11ac dual-band router, so just one Chime should offer you better performance than your existing single-band router.
2. How is Chime different from other routers?
Chime uses Mesh Wi-Fi Technology to create a single wireless network across your home, just like in offices, airports and malls. Chime also runs AVG’s security and privacy software right on the router, so it helps protect your connected devices. Chime is designed to create a new bar for home Wi-Fi routers.
3. How is Chime better than a range extender?
Unlike many Wi-Fi extenders, Chime will not decrease the speed of your home Wi-Fi. Extenders may reduce the speed of your internet connection by up to 50%, because they use a single radio to send data between routers and extenders, and to connect to your devices. Chime uses separate and dedicated radios for these tasks, so your internet speed stays as fast as it can be.
4. Will Chime work with my Internet Service Provider (ISP) and existing network setup?
Chime will work with most major ISPs and should easily fit into your existing network setup.
5. How many connected devices can Chime support?
Lots. Each Chime on its own is a powerful dual-band router, so it can support dozens of devices, depending on the device. So, if you have 2 or 3 Chimes installed in different rooms in your home, you probably won’t need to worry about running out of capacity for a while.
6. How many Chimes do I need for my house?
To get the best out of Chime, we recommend you start with 2 Chimes for an average-sized home. If you have a large home or if your home has many stories/thick walls, go for 3 or even more. And finally, if you have a small house or apartment, why not install a single Chime? There’s a lot more to Chime than just strong Wi-Fi, like intrusion protection for your devices, and those of your visitors.
7. Will Chime work for my multi-story / thick-walled home?
Chime is actually designed for a house like yours, in which traditional routers/Wi-Fi extenders just can’t seem to work.
8. How does Chime protect my connected devices?
As a security company, we designed Chime for exactly this reason. Chime runs AVG’s security software on the router to analyze incoming and outgoing traffic from your internet-connected devices. A router is the best place to protect your connected home against malware and phishing attacks.
9. What duties and local taxes are charged on my order?
For orders to US and Canada local taxes, like duties and sales tax, are not included and will be charged on delivery. For orders to the EU, VAT is included in the shipping costs.
WiFi® is a trademark of the Wi-Fi Alliance.
Your experience may vary. The final design of the product may vary. This is a crowdfunding campaign. Delivery is not guaranteed if insufficient funds are raised.
