We put extra care into making sure that the materials you put in your mouth are absolutely safe. We employ a food grade silicone similar to the one used to manufacture baby pacifiers and baking forms.

HYGIENE FIRST

Whatever goes in your mouth should be properly cleaned first. Treat CHISELL as a toothbrush, and you always rinse your toothbrush in water before brushing your teeth. We properly rinse CHISELL in alcohol-based mouthwash before it gets shipped.

Anatomy

Let’s get back to basics. There are 3 main components of your jaw anatomy that are involved in CHISELL usage.

CHISELL works by helping you grow your face muscles. We invested countless hours to make sure that all anatomical nuances are taken into consideration. The final design is optimized to bring fast results and exclude the possibility of an injury.  

MASSETER - The muscle which is responsible for closing your jaw. When you chew CHISELL you are training this muscle. With regular practice, the masseter grows in size, just like any other muscle in your body. When it grows, it gives you an appearance of having a bigger and wider jaw.

MOLAR TEETH - CHISELL makes you use your molar teeth which nature gave you to handle big loads. You are using these teeth to break tough foods like meat, carrots, apples, etc.

TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT - This joint is not fixed in place and gets out of the socket when the mouth is open wide. It can only handle big pressure when it is in the socket, which is when your mouth is only slightly opened. With CHISELL we wanted to avoid any potential injuries to the joint which is why we went with the design that only allows you to put pressure on the joint when it is safely positioned in the joint socket.

We have gone through many product versions before we finalized the design. One of the hardest technological breakthroughs was to understand how can we make the resistance even across the full motion range. We played with many variations including one individual opening, whole solid form design etc. The final CHISELL design achieves evened out resistance due to what we call "many holes design".

How CHISELL was born

The story of CHISELL begins in August 2017 when under the severe frustration of not being able to find anything good on the internet to train my jaw, I decided to make a tool of my own.

I have been passionate about improving my look for a long time, and after realizing that my face is actually not set in stone by genetics, I was right on track to figure out how to technically accomplish that.

I quickly started looking for some equipment on Google to help me train my jaw. I was stunned when I learned that the mighty web has nothing good to offer. “Shame,” I thought. I did not want to give up on that idea and started learning about jaw anatomy, specifically about the masseter muscle. After some research, I came to realize that if I figure out a way to stress masseter muscle during the chewing motion I can potentially increase its size. Body muscles grow under repetitive tension and face is no different. All that was left to do was to find a way to put some resistance when closing the mouth and that should solve the problem.

Luckily I found a resin tube with good stretch abilities. I took a piece of that tube and cut it into small pieces. I then put two pieces on each side of my molar teeth and started chewing. After about 5 minutes my cheeks were sore and I felt the real pump. At this point, I knew that my idea worked out.

Without too much thinking I incorporated chewing these tubes as a part of my daily routine. After some time, when looking in the mirror, I saw that the jaw exercise was really showing results. I was and still am very happy about how much better my face looks. I was not the only one to notice that if you know what I mean :)

The idea totally worked out and it significantly improved my self-confidence. Who would have thought that chewing more can actually make you look better? Still can’t believe that happened.

After describing this little find of mine to a friend we quickly came to the realization that there are many people who have the same problem that I had, and we should totally make a company to help those people solve it. This is how CHISELL was born.

We spent months doing research and collaborating with experts from respective areas to create the current version of CHISELL. So here we are today. After countless iterations and thousands of hours invested, we are a team of 5 who really believe we can serve the public and bring something special into the face beauty/fitness industry. All we are looking for now is the public support for our vision of helping people get a better-looking face.

We will do everything we can to break the common belief that your face is set in stone by genetics. It’s really not, and anyone with a little willpower can improve it. Just have to have a little faith in yourself.
