Produce a Record & help John Wicks beat cancer!
The Records have recorded some of power pop's most celebrated tunes including the genre's flagship song, "Starry Eyes". With original singer and songwriter John Wicks at the helm, The Records continue to perform today despite encountering more than their fair share of road bumps along the way.
In April of 2015, John Wicks was diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer. With limited time and mounting medical expenses, getting these songs recorded can be problematic.
However, with Jamie Hoover of The Spongetones standing in as "the band" on the east coast and John Wicks performing as lead vocalist on the west coast, The Records can continue to record the kind of melodic power pop that landed them a deal with Richard Branson and Virgin Records back in the day. Here's where you come in:
What We Need
In order to complete the first single (both sides), we need to raise $900 to pay for production costs.
What You Get
You'll do more than enable an accomplished artist to bring his latest project to fruition. For your contribution, you'll get digital recordings of these songs as well as some great "perks" based on your level of support. These include:
- Digital recordings of live Records shows from the past
- Updates on the project's progress
- Concert posters
- Unreleased demos
- Your name listed as co-producer
Estimated delivery date of songs and other perks is March of 2019.
Getting the Most from Your Pledge
Any monies raised over and above our goal will go toward future recordings. Who knows, we may even be able to complete the next Records album!
Challenges & Updates
Jamie Hoover's reputation as a top notch musician and excellent producer make him the ideal complement to the vocal and songwriting talents of John Wicks. With studio wizard Zak Nilsson and renowned musician/producer Fernando Perdomo overseeing the recording of vocal tracks, the process will be streamlined so that medical issues won't interfere and production costs will be kept to a minimum.
Status updates will be provided to keep you abreast of the project's progress.
Other Ways You Can Help
Can't contribute right now? We understand. Still, there is something you can do. Let your friends know about our campaign through Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms. Any help you can give is most greatly appreciated.
