The ShiftCam journey began over 2 years ago with our first Kickstarter campaign: a 6-in-1 Traveler lens phonecase. Now shipping to over 80 countries, this pioneering product was just the beginning in compact, convenient and comprehensive mobile phone lenses designed to enhance mobile phone photography. 

Since then, ShiftCam’s growing team of photography enthusiasts have gone on to develop ShiftCam’s removable ProLens series and mounting system. So you think you know your lenses? Well then you will know that ultra wide aspherical lenses are industry gold standard. They make a world of difference, with cheaper spherical lenses often the cause of major distortion and aberration. The wider the lens, the more difficult it is to achieve zero distortion. 

No Distortion vs Distorted Image   

Why the price difference? It’s all to do with the glass finish based on how the lens is manufactured. Most large-scale manufacturers sand and grind theses spherical lenses in to shape, which can cause minute, but vital imperfections. By melting the glass first, the purity and finish of an aspherical lens can be guaranteed. 

The Solution: A New Technique for Zero Distortion 

With a bit of innovative thinking, the ShiftCam team have come up with a new precision technique to produce the smallest ever aspherical lens for your phone. 

Combining 15 years of optical engineering experience and 9 months of dedicated product development in partnership with industry leading manufacturers from Korea, Japan and China, the Design and Development team has created one-of a-kind tooling capable of sustaining thousands of degrees heat whilst maintaining precision and accuracy. 

These custom-made discs of glass will enable perfectly concentrated light sources to be piped into your phone, maintaining zero distortion and replicating all that you see with the naked eye.

Lens Structure Design

Of course the ShiftCam Team never do anything by halves. So to be absolutely sure that chromatic aberration does not occur, we’ve taken things one step further, rearranging our lens structure into a unique 6 Element 4 Group structure. We even created new tooling to make sure the final step of nano-coating covers the entire surface of the aspherical lens for edge-to-edge flare-free clarity. 

The easy alignment system with a slide and shift channel makes changing lenses so easy you can do it with your eyes closed.

Small, swift and secure the multi-locking system ensures reliable attachment of your lens regardless of weight, size and focal length.

Customised for different iPhones, the ShiftCam Mounting System is a smart but simple accessory that ensures you are always prepared.
