Short Summary

  • My name is Joseph Richardson and I work with Triple J Revealed Imagery when this Idea just came to my mind.
  • Cosplay4Cancer is a calendar which is ment to help with finding a cure for cancer, which effects almost everyone. My wife's dad is battling with hodgkin's lymphoma and thus my idea to combine 2 things in my life to help others.
  • You will be helping make this calendar a reality and helping find a cure at the same time!

A little back story:

Okay rewind back to 2005 I was 19 and doing my own thing, my wife had just moved to Canada from China and was with her mother and father. Once they got to Canada they took her mother straight to the hospital as she wasn't feeling good just before they left China and that is when they found out she had ovarian cancer, after about 3 weeks her mom started getting extremely sick so her dad flew her back to China figuring that it would be the best solution, about 2 years later her mom passed away in hospital.

Fast forward 2010 my wife and I had just gotten married and were planning on making a trip out to China, so I could finally meet her dad and the rest of the family. It was in October during the world fair and golden week (big nation holiday in China that lasts 2 weeks....a lot of people have time off during that time) when we got there to do a traditional Chinese reception (for the grooms that means you get very drunk and very fast) anyways back to the story, that is when we found out her dad had just gone through leukemia treatment for having hodgkin lymphoma type B (yes that is a type of cancer for those of you who don't know). Now her dad is still alive but the cancer has come back which is a big concern for us and this is what type of dilemma I deal with on my own personal basis everyday.

I hope that helps clarify my cause and may it let more people come together to help others that may need treatments or hopefully a cure for future generations.

What We Need & What You Get

The Break Down

  • The main cost is getting the calendars made which is about $10 per calendar, the other $5.00 will be going to the Canadian Cancer Society and Alberta ride to conquer cancer.
  • The biggest perk is your helping a great cause and you get a calendar full of very talented cosplayers.
  • The funds will still be going to the same place, naturally as we get more of these calendars sold the cheaper the calendars become for manufacturing. The rest of the money will go into upgrading photography equipment and funding more projects in the future that will benefit the community.

The Impact

  • It gets the word cosplay out there more and it's going to help a great cause!

Risks & Challenges

  • The biggest challenge that I have faced so far is getting the cosplay models to work around their schedules to help out.
  • There really is no risks unless my camera randomly breaks then that could pose a slight problem......
  • Making the Deadline seems like a tough task with organizing all the photo shoots with these cosplayers!

Other ways you can help!

  • Don't sweat it if you can't buy a calendar just spread the news and make this become a sensation.
  • Remember use the share tools on the site to make it easier to get the word out!
