2018 Build-A-Vibe Tour
We've spent the past few months designing and building our Crave Design Factory into a beautiful 1961 vintage Airstream trailer: part showroom, part design studio, and — the best part — a workshop where you can build your own vibrator. Now Crave co-founder Ti Chang and our mascot Mac Jacobs are heading across America in 2018 to bring conversations about design and pleasure to a festival, museum, university, or other gathering near you.

We started our Build-A-Vibe workshop to showcase our design and manufacturing processes in our San Francisco factory, and encourage people to participate as makers in assembling their own products. As more people came and built their own vibrators, we were delighted and overwhelmed by the response and the richness of the conversations that emerged. We soon outgrew our own space and started hosting the workshop at major venues like the California Academy of Science, SXSW, and San Francisco Design Week.

Introducing the Duet Programmable Vibrator
For participants in our Build-a-Vibe workshop and project backers ONLY, we are delighted to offer a limited pre-release edition of the Duet Programmable Vibrator. The Duet Pro combines the award-winning form factor of our flagship Duet with a web app that lets you develop custom vibration patterns and reload them on the vibrator as often as you like. We'll ship our Early Bird Duet Pro vibrators in March and remaining orders in April 2018. (We've had some questions about shipping and delivery: to clarify, orders placed via Indiegogo will be SHIPPED to buyers worldwide, not delivered by Crave or available on our tour.)

Why back this project?
While we feel fortunate that we’ve had five successful crowdfunding campaigns over the past five years, this is an entirely new undertaking. This is our first project that is not a product launch -- it’s in support of something that’s bigger than Crave, the larger conversations around sex and pleasure that we want to encourage. We have the resources to launch a west coast tour, but we believe the message of this project deserves a larger audience, and with your support, we can bring the Build-A-Vibe workshop across the country.
We’re really grateful for any support you can offer, so we’ll be sharing special insider content (see a preview from Ti below) and other surprises along the way. Because we really do appreciate this, we have pulled together some limited-edition tour versions of our most-loved products to offer our backers at a very special price.

Risks & Challenges
Crave has an exemplary record with crowdfunding projects. With our 2012 Duet, Crave was the first company to crowdfund a vibrator project, and we continued our success with the launch of our wildly popular Vesper, the innovative programmable Flex, the reimagined classic Bullet vibrator, and the elegant Wink+. We have all of our physical rewards ready to ship once the campaign is complete.
For the in-person rewards, we are committed to making those successful. We'll work with backers to find mutually agreed upon dates and locations for those events.
While our Airstream is 57 years old, our tow vehicle is much newer! Still, we may experience mechanical issues, weather and traffic issues, or other tour delays beyond our control. We'll work with backers to make sure we can satisfy our commitments.
