WHAT IS CRAZY8s?
Crazy8s is an annual 8 day filmmaking challenge that provides funding and support to emerging filmmakers in British Columbia to help them produce a professional short film. Over the last 18 years, it has grown to become a cornerstone of talent development in the province. Crazy8s is run by the Crazy8s Film Society, a not-for-profit society.
Since 1999, Crazy8s has given opportunities to 97 filmmakers and their teams of producers, writers, cast cinematographers, art directors, editors and composers to produce fully funded, professional short films and present them to an audience of film professionals (as well as non-professionals) in Vancouver and around the globe. It has become the place to discover new talent, provide valuable on-set training and give opportunities for filmmakers to create work that can be used to launch their careers in the film industry.
Including crew and performers, Crazy8s has provided working opportunities for over 2,400 people.
This past year we had a record 216 people apply to Crazy8s 2017. Thirteen teams were chosen to move forward into the story editing round where they were paired up with professional story editors who helped them craft their scripts. Based on the final script, six projects are selected for production. Those six filmmaking teams are given cash plus services generously provided by a host of sponsors.
This year, the 8 days of production will run from Feb 10 to 17 and our Gala screening and party will take place on Saturday, Feb 25th.

WHAT DO WE NEED, AND WHY DO WE NEED IT?
We are currently looking for at least $2,017 in support. Crazy8s supports the teams in all aspects of production from sourcing locations to organizing insurance and other fees. This additional funding will help cover costs towards things like the venue for the spectacular gala at the Centre For Performing Arts, the AfterParty at Science World, equipment costs, publicity and advertising.

WHAT WILL YOU GET?
Donating to Crazy8s means that you will be contributing to a reputable non-profit society and to the cultural landscape of Vancouver and BC. You will receive a DVD copy of each project, a special thank you in the program and on-screen at the gala as well VIP treatment.
The most generous donor will get a 12 hour colour timing session with Technicolor worth $6000. The second most generous donor will win a one night stay at the Sandman Hotel in downtown Vancouver, perfect for an easy and stress free night after the Gala and AfterParty at Science World.
Furthermore, everyone who donates will have his/her name thanked in the Gala program and on the screen at the Feb 25 Gala Screening for an audience of potentially 1,750 people as we had last year.
