Dead Silent

Sixteen-Year-old Aaron is forced to comes to terms with watching the world around him fall apart, when blood is mixed with tragedy, and your home becomes infested by the dead, surviving a zombie outbreak isn’t easy on your own, especially when you’re a deaf mute.

About the film

Hi my name is Lewis Clements, I am the writer and producer for 'Dead Silent' and I am currently studying Creative Media Production in the West Midlands. I have been a passionate fan of the zombie genre ever since I was a young boy, when I first saw George Romero's 1978 'Dawn of the Dead', but it has taken some creative juices to come up with an original idea in such a crowded genre.

I believe that 'Dead Silent' is a complete fresh concept, the idea that a boy with a disability whom has the world on his shoulders, but still manage's to show as much courage and spirit as any other human being would; equality is the main objective here. It's a fun idea that is ambitious in scope, yet contained in terms of location, making it achievable on a low budget.

To achieve success this film needs convincing make-up, good costumes and good set dressing. There are no shadows in which to hide the zombies, if the make up or gore effects are cheap, the film will fail in its ambition to be the best zombie short.

This Film means so much to me, it is something I have always loved and I have the chance to really make an impression and make a name for us. Any assistance in this would be hugely appreciated to help us reach this goal.

How our budget is spent

There has been a lot of planning put into making our budget work, we are aware that it is a small budget and we wanted to produce a short film on a tight scale to prove it can be done. our budget will be spent on the following:

Location Fee's - Getting the right location is crucial to us, although based in a residential area it is key to focus on getting the right feel for our film which the house will have a good control over. Alongside the actual location we will have to get props which will be a minimal addition to the location budget spend.

Zombie Prosthetic Effects - Our film is dependant on our characters looking right, our zombies have to be real and this is an area we cant cheap out on.

Professional Crew members - This is a professional short film, we are giving students and amateurs the opportunity to work alongside industry professionals on our set giving experience to all. We understand how hard it can be for passionate individuals lacking experience to break out and we hope that our short film can facilitate their skills.

They will be the biggest 3 focuses of our budget, additions on the left over budget will include travel and food for all our staff over the 3 production days.

The Crew

Lewis Clements: Writer, Producer.

Lewis is currently studying a degree in Creative Media Production, he has been involved with several professional filming crews working as a camera operator and as an assistant producer; he has also worked with reputable clients such as EGX and has spent time filming local events as well editing corporate videos. He is also a camera operator for BT Sport and films professional football football matches  to be then be aired live on tv. Filming is his passion though, and he is working on a number of short and feature ideas in his spare time.

Zak East: Cinematography

Zak East has been a fan of Sci Fi and Fantasy his whole life, armed with his Panasonic Lumix Gh4  he is our cinematographer trusted with operating and instructing our cameras. At the age of 22 he has had various amounts of experience working as a technician, camera operator and production sound mixer on many different sets. He has nothing but passion for our short film.

Daniel Charlton: Director

Daniel is one of the youngest members of the team at only 19 but has the most drive to make this short film work. As a rising star he has studied media for 6 years academically already with a head of steam he is in his second year to getting his degree. He has worked as a director on several amateur projects before and lead a crew filming thousands of visitors at EGX 2016, he is confident in his own skills and so are we.

Cast

Tom Inglis - Aaron

Birmingham Based Tom Inglis will play the crucial lead role. Tom will play deaf mute Aaron and test his survival instincts in a zombie outbreak!

Tom is 18 and currently studying performing arts, he has been part of several amateur theater shows; one of which being an original show and a short film that himself and several others helped create a story for. He has also been working for a horror attraction company called Twisted Attraction for 3 years

Hopes

This film has at its heart an original idea that will make it stand out from most films in the crowded zombie and horror genres and I hope that it will generate a buzz at festivals and conventions around the world.

To pull that off will require the funds to make the film look as grand as the central premise. The more we raise, the better this film will look and the more detailed we can make the world around our disabled young man as he attempts to survive.
