Deathtrap is a play by Ira Levin with many plot twists, even referencing itself as a play within a play. Written in 1978, it holds the record for the longest running comedy-thriller on Broadway and was also nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play.
It takes place in the home of Sidney Bruhl, the washed-up playwright who once made fame and fortune with successful murder mysteries for the stage. Now, with a deadly case of writer's block, Sidney plans to murder and steal the script of up-and-comer, Clifford Anderson, whose first play promises to be a smash-hit However, nothing in this play is as it appears. Wives, lawyers and psychics attempt to thwart Sidney's scheme, but no one knows what he's really after or what he'll do to get it.
