We've reached our goal, but don't let that stop you! We still need money to mix the sound and colour correct the finished product! Please help us avoid crazy debt!
The Impact
John and his team want to use DESPERATION as a calling card short film for his feature film Do Not Disturb. Having a short film that demonstrates the tone and style of the feature and having success on the festival circuit will make it easier to attract investors.
The FilmDESPERATION is a short film about
people trying to connect. We all want to find someone to share our lives with, but
what happens when we do fall in love only to discover that they have a flaw so
brutal it cannot be overlooked. How far will a person go to hold onto what they
thought was real?
In DESPERATION, this story
manifests itself when Sophie decides to return home for a one-night stand with
Adam. After years of dating they both believe that what they feel is real and
that they’ve found the person they’ve always been searching for. Unfortunately,
Sophie awakes that night to discover that Adam has a metal cable coming out of
his head and that he’s hooked up to some sort of machine. After the initial
panic subsides, she’s convinced it must have been a dream until she feels a
connector port on top of his head and is now convinced that he is some type of
cyborg. Together they wrestle with this reality and descend into a gruesome attempt
to extract what has come between them from his body.
What we Need and What We’ll Use it For
We are investing
$2500 of our own money into this project, but we need another $4000 to make it
happen. We’re asking for $2500 because that is the basic amount we need to get
this film shot and because we pay IndieGoGo a higher interest rate if we don’t
hit our target. We’re confident we can raise the money for post after we shoot
it should we fall short here and if all else fails we have credit cards, but
would prefer to avoid that.
This film has a
number of practical effects and the more money we raise the better these effects
can be. Everyone is volunteering their time and effort and many people have donated some services, but the bottom line is that films cost money. We need to feed our crew and buy material for the effects. This is the bare minimum needed to shoot this film, we’d love to
raise more and actually pay the crew a small honorarium for their talent and
time, but only you can help make that possible!
The spending breakdown
is as follows:
$1000 – Gear rental
$1000 – Make-Up,
Wardrobe, Set decoration
$1000 – Cast &
feeding people!
$1000 - Insurance & application fees
$2500 – Post Production Services
