wollen mit Willy

 über den großen Teich.

Nach langen Vorbereitungen fahren wir von August bis September 2016
mit Willy, unserem Wartburg 311 Camping, endlich los – durch die USA.

Wir starten unseren großen Trip von New York aus nach Chicago,

entlang der legendären Route 66 bis zur Pazifikküste.

Mit verschiedenen großen und kleinen Zwischenzielen, 

geht es weiter entlang der grandiosen Westcoast nach Norden -

in einem weiten Schwung über die Rocky Mountains-

und dann wieder zurück bis nach New York.

Willy will’s wissen! – und wir natürlich auch.

Halten wir alle durch? Macht einer von uns schlapp?

An der Ausrüstung soll‘s nicht liegen.

Von „A“ wie Aspirin bis „Z“ wie Zündkerze werden wir alles dabei haben.

Wir halten Dich natürlich auf dem Laufenden mit – hoffentlich - legendären Fotos und Berichten der Tour-Highlights im Netz.

Nach glücklicher Heimkehr werden wir ein Buch (Arbeitstitel – „Aufgelesen“) mit Bildern und Erlebnissen herausgeben. Der Inhalt wird sein:

Wen haben wir getroffen? Wer hat uns ein Stück begleitet?

Was gab’s für Pannen? Wie wurden wir von Land und Leuten aufgenommen?

Was haben wir erlebt?

Unsere Videoaufzeichnungen von unterwegs sollen als Doku-Film erscheinen.

T-Shirts, Postkarten und Kalender sind ebenfalls angedacht.

Unser Vorhaben gründet sich auf vier Säulen:

1.  Zum einen nehmen wir den 120. Geburtstag seit der Gründung der Fahrzeugfabrik Eisenach am 03.12.1896 als Anlass,

zum Zweiten ist es der 60. Geburtstag der Baureihe Wartburg 311. Die Produktion lief offiziell am 02.01.1956 an.

2.  Der amerikanische Autohändler Willy Witkin hat 1958 aus der ehemaligen DDR in Eisenach 1.215 Wartburg gekauft und in den Staaten über seine Autohäuser weiterverkauft.

Also fahren wir auch in Erinnerung an Willy Witkin.

Er brachte Jörg Tissat erst auf die Idee zu dieser Tour durch die USA mit einem Wartburg 311.

3.  Auch die Route66 hat Geburtstag!

Am 26.11.2016 sie wird 90Jahre jung. Toi,toi,toi .

4.  Der soziale Hintergrund ist,

dass unser Wartburg (auch "Willy" genannt) nach der Tour versteigert werden soll und der Erlös der Kinderorganisation

  "one by one" und der Kampagne „Power of 5“ zu Gute kommen wird.

Nach der Tour wollen wir auf Vortragsreise gehen.

Bücher, Kalender T-Shirts werden wir verkaufen, um auch von diesen Erlösen die Kinderorganisation zu unterstützen.

Zusätzlich sammeln wir Autogramme von Personen des öffentlichen Lebens in Deutschland und dann auch in den USA.

Einige Autogramme haben wir bereits.

Letzteres vom Fußball-Nationalmannschafts-Torwarttrainer Andy Köpke, der in Brasilien Weltmeister wurde, und Fußballeuropameister Thomas Helmer.

In Verbindung stehen wir auch mit dem Verein "Arizona Route 66" in Arizona, der zur Erhaltung der Route 66 beisteuert und mit Victor Bierschansky, einem Wartburgsammler aus LA.

Mit Victor haben wir bereits persönlichen Kontakt. Er war im November 2015 hier in Deutschland um Teile verschiedener Wartburg-Modelle einzukaufen.

We, Arnold Schneider, Maximiliano di Paola and Jörg Tissat want to bring Willy over the Atlantic.

After long preparations we will finally drive from August to September 2016 with Willy, a Wartburg 311 Camping - through the USA.

The Route will start from New York to Chicago

following the legendary Route66 to the Pacific Coast

with bigger and smaller Stops on the West Coast

with a big swing passing the Rocky Mountains

and then back to New York.

Willy want to start now! - and we too!

Will we all make it? Will one of us struggle? The equipment is ready. From „A“ like Aspirin to „Z“ like … we have it all.

We will keep you on track with – hopefully – legendary Pictures and Reports of Tour-Highlights in the internet.

After happily coming home we will write a book (working title: „Aufgelesen“) including Pictures and Stories. Also included:

Who did we meet? Who was joining us? What kind of problems did we have? How did people react to us? What did we live through?

Our Videos should be produced as a documentation. T-Shirts, Postcards and Calendars are also planned. If you are interested please connect us!

Every donation is happily welcomed and „Willy“ is taking more and more steps to the sunset...

For all the new supporters, sponsors and fans.

Our adventure is based on four reasons:

1. We are celebrating the 120th birthday of the car manufacture Eisenach in 3rd December 1896 and the 60th birthday of the Wartburg Type 311. The production started officially on 2nd January 1956.

2. The American carseller Willy Witkin bought 1215 Wartburg from the former German Democratic Republic in Eisenach in 1958 and sold these in his car houses in the US.

3. The Route66 has also Birthday! On the 26th November it is the 90th birthday. Toi, toi, toi.

4. The social background is that our Wartburg (also called Willy) should be donated after our tour and the proceeds should be spend to „one by one“ (a kids charity) and the campaign „Power of 5“.

After the tour we want to travel and talk about it. We will sell books, calendars and T-Shirts to donate these proceeds to the kids charity.

Additionaly we collect autographs from famous people in Germany and the US. Some autographs we already collected. The last ones were by Andreas Köpke, the coach of the goalkeepers in the German National Football Team, who won the World Cup in Brazil and Thomas Helmer who won European Championship in Football.

We stay in contact with the association „Arizona Route 66“ in Arizona which is working to keep the Route 66 alive and with Victor Bierschansky who is a Wartburg collector from LA.

With Victor we have contact in person. He has been in Germany in November 2015 to buy some parts of Wartburg types.
