Cue Up The Record & Get On The Dance Floor!
DO IT CLEAN is about Matt Pinfield.
DO IT CLEAN is not just about Matt Pinfield.
DO IT CLEAN is about music.
The passion for music! The power music has to lift us up, to propel even the most unlikely of heroes to success. What it takes to make it, to stay on top and what it feels like to hit rock bottom.
Matt has had a front row seat to all the craziness of the early punk era and to the out of control 80's and 90's at MTV. He's worked as a DJ, VJ, and done time as an executive at Columbia Records where he discovered chart topping groups like Coheed and Cambria.
Matt's been at the forefront of ground breaking shows like MTV's "120 Minutes" and "Farmclub.com".
Along the way he has interviewed seemingly every Rock Star in the world. From icons Sir Paul McCartney and David Bowie to groundbreaking punk heroes like Stiv Baters and Henry Rollins and everyone in between (The Spice Girls!?!)
DO IT CLEAN shines a light on these stories from both Matt and the artists themselves documenting what really happened.
DO IT CLEAN tells the story of Rock and Roll not only from Matt Pinfield's perspective but many of the rock stars he has interviewed over the past 35 years.
WHAT WE NEED...
WHAT WE'LL DO...
WHAT YOU'LL GET!
We are looking to raise $182,000 for complete production costs. The money raised will go towards paying the crew, renting the camera and sound equipment. The funds will aid in travel expenses needed to interview musicians and rock stars who know Matt and that will entail getting to where they are. And while the wish list of artists we plan on interviewing is a veritable who's who of Rock Royalty, we can already confirm that we are reaching out to the following artists:
- Bono
- Adam Clayton
- Thom Yorke
- Ed O'Brien
- Jack White
- Rob Zombie
- Billy Corgan
- Tom Morello
- Anderson Paak
- Chris Cornell
- Kim Thatill
- Patrick Carney
We've begun production on DO IT CLEAN and have already logged over a dozen hours of interviews with Matt and those close to him, and we plan on continuing production throughout the 60 day campaign, regardless of how much money we are raising. Once the campaign has ended, we'll continue filming throughout the summer and head into Post Production this Fall.
Perks?!?
Do we have Perks!
From "Special Thanks" mention in the end credits, to exclusive T-Shirts and DVD's. We have shout outs on Matt's Podcast to personalized autographed copies of his bestselling book.
So yeah, we have the kind of Perks people want.
Want more?
How about having Matt personally choose an LP for you based on your tastes during one of his many shopping sprees to vintage record stores. VIP tickets to the Premiere. You can even join Matt and the filmmaker as their guest at a concert, giving you an insiders POV.
We appreciate any and all help and want our supporters to know how grateful we are in helping get this story told. Share this with friends, enemies, anyone who you think would get excited about DO IT CLEAN
The beauty of this kind of campaign is that even if we fall short of our projected goal we'll still use the money we did raise to finish DO IT CLEAN. As we've said, we have hours of intimate footage and interviews with Matt and the people close to him. So if we don't reach our projected goal, your contributions will not be in vain and we will still end up with a valuable, important, and most of all entertaining documentary.
Matt Pinfield has witnessed and experienced so much music history in his life. A history that saw the rise (and fall?) of Punk Rock. In the early 80's Matt was one of the few DJ's playing Punk and New Wave, first at the small club in New Jersey called The Melody, and then at legendary indie radio station WHTG . It's important to get an oral history from those who were there. From those who were a part of a musical movement that slowly took over the airwaves and eventually MTV with Matt behind the wheel.
Kyle Schickner-Director/Producer: Kyle has directed seven feature films, including "Steam" starring Ally Sheedy, Chelsea Handler and Oscar nominated screen legend Ruby Dee. He has directed music videos, commercials and critically acclaimed Web Series'. His latest film a documentary called , "A White Man Walks Into A Barbershop" about racism in America is due out at the end of the year.
A Long And Winding Road
Making a documentary is always an interesting trip. Often the direction you thought you were heading changes the more you dig deeper into the subject matter. We do not anticipate any Jinx-like surprises or revelations that will send us in a totally new direction, however having a subject as open and honest as Matt, someone who has had such a storied life there is no telling what we will unearth, what untold tales will be revealed...in the end no one knows where this will ultimately take us. But we are thrilled to have you all along for the ride.
