About the Project

Tim Landers, a prolific songwriter and founding member of the emo/pop-punk band TRANSIT,
struggled. He fought battles, often privately, with substance misuse and his own mental health needs. Don’t Forget To Leave delves into Landers’ life and his untimely death, both of which have become representative of a much larger epidemic. His story is told to us through interviews with his family and his bandmates, as well as through interviews with other musicians and mental health professionals. We feel that everyone has a person like Tim in their life, and its important that we hold those people close and support them in their toughest moments. We feel that Don’t Forget To Leave has the potential to help countless others dealing with mental health and addiction issues by spotlighting Tim's story.

Production on Don't Forget To Leave started in May of 2019. Thirteen of about thirty interviews have been conducted and roughly half of the proposed archival footage has been sourced, all with the support of Tim's family and many friends. To date, OTC Industries has been independently producing this film.

Who We Are

Director Bill Fulkerson was a friend of Tim’s since the early days of playing music in the Landers’ garage and, at the time of Tim's passing, the two were going to film a short documentary on Tim's recovery and return to music. The sudden loss left Fulkerson with a conviction to tell Tim's story the way they had originally planned: openly and honestly, without romanticizing the demons Tim fought with daily. In order to do so, Bill tapped filmmaking partner Kyle Kuchta to produce. The duo had previously released Survival Of The Film Freaks, an award-winning documentary about cult cinema that was heralded for its ability to connect with audiences. Don't Forget To Leave combines Fulkerson's personal connection to Tim with the duo's drive to produce powerful and influential films that will resonate with audiences.

What Your Donation Supports

This IndieGoGo has been launched to offset production costs while we apply for grants. The funds go toward finishing the rest of our interviews and begining our post-production process. In order to conduct the remaining interviews, we have to travel out of the New England area to California, Oregon, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. As independent filmmakers, we do all in our power to keep our budgets low, but travel does not come cheap. Donations to this campaign will also support equipment rentals, offset previous filmmaker expenses, and give us a leg up on post-production by supporting transcription and initial editing services. A percentage of what we make from this campaign will also be donated to an organization chosen by the Landers family.
