DIRK WILL NEVER GIVE UP!!

Don Bluth and Gary Goldman have come together once again to bring the classic arcade game Dragon's Lair to the big screen. We are seeking your help to create a “pitch presentation” to make Dragon’s Lair: The Movie with an Indiegogo crowd-funding campaign! Since 1983, Dragon's Lair continues to be a fan favorite around the world, on over 70 different platforms! Please join us in this adventure as we prepare to bring Dragon's Lair to a new generation!

Your contributions on Indiegogo will be spent to produce a four-minute video which we will call the Pitch Presentation. In the Pitch Presentation video, you will see outline storyboarding, i.e., drawings that will hit the bullet points of what the movie will eventually be. Within this four minute pitch video, our team will also create one full minute of classical animation in full color.

In addition to the four minute pitch video, we intend to employ a professional screenwriter to work with us on the movie script.

These valuable tools, funded by your contributions on Indiegogo, will assist us in raising the money to produce the full length classically animated film.

Let’s make it happen!

Once funding is over we will create a work schedule with a small team of script writers and artists, under Don & Gary’s supervision, Don Bluth Films will refine the story and script to create a unique teaser presentation incorporating sections of the story with recorded dialogues, storyboards and color art direction with one minute of classical animation to give the viewer a sampling of the story and its character personalities, delivering an entertaining experience to create a “want to see” reaction. A presentation which will encourage investors to provide financing of our budgeted 70 million dollars for us to produce Dragon’s Lair : The Movie. Don Bluth Films, Inc. will be video-documenting the creative process and showing updates exclusively for the Indiegogo backers. Don & Gary are committed to sharing the experience in this endeavor.

Long ago in the kingdom of Winterholler, there lived a young prince, named DIRK.  He was the joy and hope for the future  of the entire realm, but did not grow up to become the king.  The court wizard, MORDROC created a formidable dragon to destroy the royal family to establish himself as the supreme ruler of the land.

On the eve of Dirk's betrothal to the Princess DAPHNE, the dragon crashes through the roof of the palace killing the King and Queen and sinking the entire royal court into the mote.  The royal children, DIRK and DAPHNE, are saved from a certain death by royal nurse, HILDE, who spirits them away to a secret cottage in "The Swamps of Despair."

HILDE, with magic of her own, protects the children from that traumatic night by clouding their memories.  She knows that Mordroc will not rest until they are dead.  A prophecy is rumored that when the boy reaches sixteen years of age, he will return, kill MORDROC, and take back the throne.

On  his sixteenth birthday, Dirk learns the truth,  but rejects the idea of becoming the King.  He wants to be a Knight and vows to avenge his parents deaths. MORDROC discovers DIRK and DAPHNE'S whereabouts,  and sends a bigger dragon after them.  HILDE, arms DIRK with the Sword of Truth, and gives DAPHNE the Bow and Arrow of Virtue.  Neither sword nor bow are magic.  They must use their wits to fight their way to a happier day. The fate of the kingdom is at stake.  MORDROC is what stands in the way of a happy ending.

We’ve worked on '20' successful animation motion pictures, some of them “iconic”, The Secret of NIMH, An American Tail, The Land Before Time, All Dogs Go To Heaven and Anastasia to name a few.'

It’s ironic that the project that has given us the greatest recognition is a video arcade game known as Dragon’s Lair, created in 1983. Known around the world, the game has an extremely loyal fan base - and with each generation it has gained even more fans. The arcade game continues now as an app for the latest technical devices, smart phones, tablets and personal computers. Dragon’s Lair fans have been begging us to make a movie base on the title and characters from the game. Just like Dirk the Daring, the character who wouldn’t die, the game marches on. It’s time to make the movie!”

We have many great rewards in store for you including, Digital Downloads, Original Signed books, Artwork and Posters,  Maquette's, Lapel Pins, T-Shirts, Lanyards, and even a full day with Don & Gary during production!  Thank you for coming to our Indiegogo crowd-funding campaign!

DON BLUTH FILMS, INC.

Founded in 2000 by animation industry veterans Don Bluth & Gary Goldman (some fan favorites are - The Secret of NIMH, An American Tail, The Land Before Time, All Dogs Go To Heaven, Anastasia and video arcade games - Dragon’s Lair and Space Ace) the Phoenix Arizona based company has been wrestling with creating Dragon’s Lair: The Movie based on their popular hit video game Dragon’s Lair (1983). It is to be a “prequel” to the game and the backstory story of Dirk the Daring, a knight, a bungling hero, an everyman - if you will, for a feature-length theatrical film. We are considering what so many colleagues and fans have challenged us to do. Your comments and suggestions to adjust our Rewards and not to give up.  We’re were back with a better plan, so let’s make it happen.
