MATTHEW MARENTIS | SOUND MIXERProduction Design
One of our most challenging tasks for this production will be constructing a replica of Yayoi Kusama's INFINITY ROOM, which consists of a room covered from head to toe in mirrors with floating LED lights strung about. We chose to display this replication in our film in order to showcase the idea of feeling so small and helpless while in a space so infinite and endless. To do this, we will need to lease a space from Cinespace Studios (which houses shows such as NBC's Chicago Fire and Fox's Empire) and build it from the ground up. While this will be a difficult feat to accomplish, we are excited and eager to get started!
In the film, Teddy's parents are very eccentric and out of touch with current cultures. In order to immerse the audience into this world, our production design team is prepared with a wacky and off-centering visual, complete with plastic sofa coverings, a variety of holiday themed nutcrackers, and more!
We chose to make this story in order to bring to light a subject matter that is unrightfully not explored in film very often. We told the story of man who goes through his life with Asperger's Syndrome to show those who relate to him that they are not alone. We also saw this as a great opportunity to showcase the great talents of the female filmmaking community, seeing as though over half of this crew is female. This includes three female producers, female co-writers, a female director, as well as other positions.
