Welcome to Drone Wars
The issue that Drone Wars addresses is the arming of remote operated drones by private U.S. citizens.
This is not science fiction.
This is happening now and there are virtually no laws that address the issue.
Does the 2nd Amendment cover weaponizing a drone? Should drones require registration? As of now, they are virtually untraceable.
Should firefighters, police and other emergency workers be specially armed to defend against armed drones? These are only a few of the questions that we address in our documentary and we feel it is important enough to ask for additional support from the community.
Filmmaker Rubidium Wu brings his unique style to a project that is the forerunner for an issue that will span generations.
This is a styled documentary about United States civilians waging drone warfare against foreign enemy combatants. Our film reveals how private, weaponized drones are smuggled into war zones for remote combat operations. The film also contains commentary from drone and military experts. This is the collaborative of filmmaker and documentarian, Rubidium Wu, Crimson Engine Productions and You.
- We have filmed interviews with drone and military experts to support the fact-based aspect of this story. You'll see some of those in the trailer.
- Our goal is to delve deeper into this story towards a full length feature.
- While some of the information presented in this film is speculative, it touches on the very real evolution of civilian drone usage and the frigtening possibilities of this technology.
- If You like what we have done so far and want to see more we would absolutely appreciate your support.
What We Need & What You Get
Here is the breakdown:
We need completion funds of $29,000. Your generous donations will be humbly applied towards:
- Add additional footage.
- Post Production Tasks including Grading, Editing
- Insurance Costs for Shooting on Location
- Acquisition of Rights for Footage from Select, Private Drone Operators
What You Get:
We want everyone to have access to the film they contributed to. Along with DVD, BluRay and Digital Rewards, we are also offering supporter and producer credits which will appear in the film. If you are a drone enthusiast and a contributor at the allotted level, we would love to include you in the film.
The Impact
Your contribution directly impacts how far we can take this film. With the total amount that we request, we can realize our goal of a feature-length film. With partial funds, we can still deliver an amazing film - but without some of the more tantalizing footage and leads that we want to follow.
- This is a very real possibility today - private drones are being made into lethally armed combat units right now.
- We present factual information in an unbiased manner in the hopes to educate and spur real discussions about this topic.
- We hope that our film becomes a part of the cultural conversation about private done use.
Risks & Challenges
Three months of filming is a tight schedule - we could foresee possible delays in filming due to weather conditions.
- We're not new to tight schedules, we'll soldier on, reschedule shoots and do what it takes to bring this film to life.
- References are available on request to contributors
