The Idea
My Moto Mod™ candidate is there to tackle one major problem ; to get rid of the frustration of untangling your earphones every time you use them. We all have experienced that situation when we see a ball of wires instead of our earphones. Worst case, they might even have broken. In addition, you don't need to carry separate earphones whenever you go out.
For this, we have created the EarMods, the perfect companion for your Moto Z smartphone. The case has built-in earphones with retractable wires, so they always stay inside, protected. Even if you do not own a Moto Z smartphone, we have an option for you too. The mod also has a headphone jack if you want to plug in your own headphones, and a 1000 mAh battery to keep you going all day. The mod and phone can also stand on the side using a built-in stand.
The EarMods lite version has 2 headphone jacks instead of one, so you can watch a movie or listen to music with your friends. this, too has a 1000 mAh battery, but it does not have built-in earphones.
For a limited number of people, we would make custom EarMod cases for their smartphone which work by the audio jack or bluetooth.

Never carry earphones again
- The EarMods have built-in earphones that can be pulled out easily.
- When not in use, they stay inside the case, protected and concealed.
- The wires can go back in with just a push of a button.
- The mod is connected to your Moto Z with magnetic connectors on the back.
- The earphones inside do not need a dedicated app to be used, and can be used as soon as you connect the mod.
- The mod also has an extra battery and headphone jack.
Design
The EarMods is made to be as thin as possible. The back looks a little bit like a camera grip, with the bottom part slightly bulging out to make space for the retractible earphones. The back has soft touch material and a glossy stripe.

EarMods Lite
We have made another version of EarMods, the EarMods lite. This version is much thinner as it does not have built'in earphones. It has 2 headphone jacks instead of one, and it, too has an additional 1000 mAh battery. The mod and phone can also stand on the side using a built-in stand.
The EarMods lite will be around 5 mm thick.
If you want it top have a storage for your earphones, you can get a storage add-on by adding $5 to your pledge ( only for EarMods lite). The add-on will attach with ease using magnets and pins, and can be removed whenever you like. The proposed thickness for the add-on is 9-10 mm, but it may vary.

To reduce the thickness of the storage add-on, the EarMods lite will have a removable compartment to accommodate the earbuds easily. The compartment and its cover can be seen in the picture below.

Customisation
For an additional $10, we will make the back cover of your choice of colour or design. Just choose the Customisation perk along with your EarMods.
Also, for a limited number of backers, we will make a custom EarMods case for your smartphone. This will not have additional battery of headphone jack.
The Impact
- We are a finalist in the Transform the Smartphone challenge, and we need your support to advance and make this product a reality.

Timeline
November 2016 : Chosen as a finalist in Transform the Smartphone Challenge.
December 2016: Design and early testing
January 2017: Received the development hardware
February 2017: Launched Indiegogo campaign.
February 2017: Prototype complete.
April 2017: Campaign ends.
November 2017: Delivery of EarMods.
