THE STORY

A child fighting cancer may not be special or unique to
the world, but little Emma touched my heart. My Mom was talking about Emma
one evening. Emma was diagnosed just six months ago and she was suppose to
start kindergarten this year, sad. She has multiple tumors throughout her
body, one that has split her femur in her left leg that required a pin to
be set in order to fix the break. They can't remove the tumor for fear it might spread during surgery.

Hi, I'm a typical driving teenager, with a birthday coming up and I feel that it is time to "Pay IT Forward".  Too often in the past I have received birthday gifts that I didn't use or need.  So this year I have decided to be proactive.  I am requesting from my friends and family and anyone else that can help this little girl, to donate or help and pray for Emma and her Father.

Emma is taking her, Make A Wish trip to Disney World this week where she will meet Elsa and Ana [Frozen], her two favorite Princesses. Four of my friends and I would like to dress up like Princesses and go and visit Emma in the hospital when she returns from her Disney Trip. If we can't find Princess costumes, then we will go in our cheer leading uniforms.  You see,  Emma and I share another hobby. We both love to do fingernails. Emma has been painting all the nurses and other visitors as well as her Father's fingernails. I do nails as a hobby, and thought I would bring my supplies and show her a few neat nail design tricks.

The Impact

Right now Emma and her Father have been back and forth between their home in Oklahoma and Children's Hospital here in Little Rock, AR.  I imagine expenses are mounting and will continue.  My small goal of $500 may not seem like a lot, and is a drop in the bucket for their debt, but it seemed obtainable for a birthday fundraiser.

Risks & Challenges

I am attempting to raise money via social media as my family and friends are spread out among several cities and states.  Some people are not comfortable about donating money on-line.  Some don't even use social media.  I may not reach my goal.  Further, Emma's cancer is spreading fast, and though I set a goal of 30 days, it may have to be cut short.

Other Ways You Can Help

Emma's Father's name is Edward Mortenson and they are on FB at www.facebook.com/edward.mortenson. As Mr. Mortenson is a single parent, he can use all the support and prayers he can get.  Further, having a support system to provide breaks, meals, books, and activity ideas while in the hospital are areas that can really improve their stay.
Thank-you in advance for reading my story - and hopefully helping this family. - S.W.
