ETEAQ’s designs are characterized by the use of reclaimed Indonesian teak wood coming from old Javanese houses and prized for its strength and beauty, creating a fantastic one-of-a-kind story for each piece. This beautifully aged teak wood, many which are 30 years old, contain less moisture than new woods, which means that they have better durability and water resistance.

For tree planting, ETEAQ partners with Trees4Trees, a non-profit foundation dedicated to reforestation efforts throughout Indonesia. Trees4Trees works with over 14,000 farmers.

Watch the video below to find out how Trees4Trees helps sustainable reforestation in Indonesia:

  • Q: Where does the reclaimed wood come from?
  • A: It is a custom in Java, Indonesia, for families to move into a new house with every third generation. The teak wood from the old house is sold, and with the proceeds, the farmers are able to finance their new homes and take care of other expenses.
  • Q: If I buy a product and adopt a tree, will I own the tree?
  • A: With your donation you help finance the operation of Trees4Trees, who will grow high-quality tree seedlings in their tree nurseries. They then donate the trees to the farmers who work with them. In the end, the farmer takes care of the tree, and owns it.
  • Q: What happens if the tree dies?
  • A: We have agreed with Trees4Trees that if your adopted tree dies within two years, for any reason, you will have a new tree allocated to your unique number. However, the survival rate of the trees is very high, thanks to the quality seedlings Trees4Trees grows, and to the farmers, who all get adequate training.
  • Q: Where are the trees planted and what type of tree is planted?
  • A: The trees are mostly planted in Java, Indonesia, and are mostly teak trees. Java is located on the equator ,and the trees don't lose their leaves. As such, the trees absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen the whole year!
  • Q: Where are the products being produced?
  • A: All products are produced by incredible craftsmen in a trusted, well-run factory in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. While the wood comes from Indonesia, the recycled plastic frames for the iPhone cases come from a trusted source in China - a Hong Kong-based company with Western management and a factory in China.
