About The Story

Our Pirate hero stands in for every little boy and girl experiencing one of the most remarkably memorable holidays: Halloween. The little adventurer’s quest for sweets gets interrupted by ghosts and ghouls, ready to pounce, distracting the boy from all of the door-to-door treats. Now, since his journey reflects every young reader’s experience, it must be said that the boy comes out of his journey very much alive, definitely not dead!

Everyone’s experience of Halloween follows a lot of the same paths, and we’ve all let our imaginations run wild on this terrific holiday that leaves our bellies full with candy and snacks. Of course, no extra special Halloween would be complete without all of the false scares that are simply the result of our over-active imaginations. Not to worry! Brave children like our pirate will prevail and learn that Halloween night isn’t so scary after all… as long as you keep the lights on in your bedroom.

When you order our wonderful book you have two options. You can get the first edition of the Halloween book, as an e-book, to read for this Halloween with your family. Furthermore, the second edition of the children’s book, debuting with this campaign, will be available in print!

Believe it or not this isn't even the final cover of the book! 

The in-print book will feature updated art and painted backgrounds, sized at 8” x 10” with over 20 pages, that enhance the creepy drawings and bring new life to the story! Backers of the in-print book will receive the PDF version of the book’s first edition and they’ll be able to enjoy all versions of our wonderful story. Additionally, both versions of the book include puzzling mazes that will add to the Halloween fun.

How did this book happen? Behind the Pages of Extra Spooky Heebie-Jeebie Creepy Halloween

Keith Brown, author, songwriter, and illustrator, wanted to tell a story about one of his favorite holidays. Halloween, is a holiday that brings Keith and his family a lot of joy every year. So, he got to writing and illustrating, and told a story that rhymes with a fun, cartoon art style that leaps right off of the page. Yes, the book does just fine as poetry but also works well sung as a song before bedtime. Then, he collaborated with Rachel Korsen, artist and creator, to make a second edition of the book with amazing painted backgrounds and revamped character designs. Their collaboration has really made something incredible so feast your eyes and hold out your treat bags!

Keith lives with his family and puts a lot of work and joy into his creative endeavors, especially his illustrated children’s books. An established web comic artist as well and his works can be found here and many other places. On the horizon, Keith will be publishing many of his subsequent books with Golden Bell’s Polar Press, so keep a lookout for more original books. Rachel has a love for candy and trick 'r' treating, sometimes taking one too many pieces from the bowl! Whenever she isn’t illustrating books, she’s working at Golden Bell Studios imagining new creative products for her fans all over the world. She’s a key ingredient to Polar Press’s success and her fairytale children’s book, The Love of a Bingle Lancer, is also available.

If we reach the goal of 1,500 dollars we’ll be able to record an audiobook that will give this passion project a literal voice. Risks and Challenges

From a production standpoint, the book’s written but the illustrations are still being drawn and colored. They’re nearly finished and some of the costs, like the book’s first edition, have already been covered. Your support will greatly help us print the new edition, but by backing this project you will receive the already completed book in e-book form. Pushing this project to the next step would give us great joy! We definitely feel that you and everyone you love will enjoy this book, and it will be a family staple every Halloween!
