Summary
Hi, my name
is Daniel and I’m an architect who can’t efficiently work on architecture due
the problems that construction industry encountered in my country. So I
temporarily abandoned the architecture and decided to implement my old product
design ideas. The idea that I will introduce to you now is the one I wanted to
create since the time I was a kid.
So, the
sunglasses. For me, as for many others, wearing the sunglasses has always been
associated with problems such as: their constant slipping down the nose,
painful red marks left by the bridge and nose pads. And I asked myself: why the
sunglasses can’t exist without the bridge and nose pads in a first place? And
an obvious solution for design of the EyeCrabs appeared. Headband that pushes
structure of sunglasses to the temples. And the pressure from the headband to
the temples turned out to be not so great because of large size of the EyeCrabs
temporal pads.
At this
point the design could be completed. But wait. In fact the lenses now have no
role to keep the sunglasses on a head and this means that now I can do
anything with them. That’s how the function of hiding the lenses appeared.
And these
are the main features of EyeCrabs.
Which provide many opportunities of how they can be used.
As well as
many possibilities for further development of their design: the feature of
replacing the rims (already included) , supplementing the EyeCrabs with various
accessories in the future, etc.
What We Need & What You Get
At the
moment, the development of schemes for the first edition design of EyeCrabs called
“Totally Crab” completed by 99%. And now I need funds primarily for the
production of EyeCrabs sunglasses, their packaging and some bureaucracy stuff. Fund
balances will be invested in creating the new models and supplements to the
EyeCrabs (In the future, I am planning complement them with various electronic
devices).
For now, I
am planning produce the first edition limited to 2000 pieces by this summer(*): 1000 in color “Cloud” and 1000 in color “Patriot”.
Most of them or even ALL will go to my contributors and will never be produced
in this “Totally Crab” design again (it is compatible with all future models,
so don’t worry). Each pair of the first edition EyeCrabs will have its
exclusive ID number that will be assigned to the contributor.
The most
active contributors will receive 3D model and schemes of the basic design of EyeCrabs.
So that they will be able to 3D print spare parts as well as develop their own
design for rims and lenses which they
can use themselves or send to us (If the design will be good enough good and
comfortable to wear - we will produce EyeCrabs on the base of your design, and the author will receive a
percentage of profit from the sales as well as will be listed as a EyeCrabs co-designer on the EyeCrabs website and as "designed by" on specific model EyeCrabs package).
If the campaign attains at least three times more funds than
planned - each set of EyeCrabs will be supplemented by two pairs of replaceable
rims with lenses of alternative design.

The Impact
Impact of
the EyeCrabs - is to give the world a comfortable alternative to the
traditional sunglasses. In some
sense EyeCrabs are not glasses at all - they are something different, as a smoking
pipe compared with cigars.
I hope that with Your help EyeCrabs will
take their place in the world as the traditional and recognizable
accessory. And
if it happens - I will not stop on the EyeCrabs, and will continue to create comfortable
alternatives to other casual accessories.
Risks & Challenges
It may
sound cynical - but only real obstacles for me are money and time. I can't control the speed of the production of parts and delays in logistics. As well as I can't start the production without your contribution.
I will say honestly - the main risk is that if this campaign will not achieve the goal I will not be able to start production in time. In that case, I can only promise that you will get your perks but later than planned. And I'm very sorry for that. Flexible funding - is not my decision, it's just the only possible opportunity for me due to the PayPal limits.
Any other
possible production problems are not so complicated for me. After my experience in
construction management - production of accessories is not so big deal.
If you can't fund
EyeCrabs, but you would like to see them become a reality - please just show them to your friends. It is important for me.
EyeCrabs is a good idea, and it deserves to take its place in the world of accessories.
Thank you. And may the crab be with you.
