We are bringing life back to language learning
If you're like us, you've tried learning languages in so many different ways. High school classes, Duolingo, Babbel, maybe a tutor or two? But despite all these years trying, you still aren't fluent yet.
It's not your fault! Language learning of today is consists of lifeless grammar lessons, endless conjugation tables, and rarely getting the chance to actually speak despite your teachers trying their best to get you to do so.
We want to change that. Faena is the first of it's kind to bring life back to language learning through an immersive, voice-recognition based, language learning world.
Why is Faena different?

Adventure through the Colombian Andes as Piyáa
In a retro-futuristic version of Earth plagued by a deadly fungus, exploration pilot Piyáa crash lands in the Colombian Andes. After losing all memory of their past, Piyáa must earn the trust of the nearby village of Colibrío in order to survive and protect what, and whom, they love.
Piyáa can be female, male, or non-binary.
Who are we and why are we doing this?
We are a team of language learners, language teachers, gamers, and artists! You can read our bios on our website. We've seen first hand all of the different ways to learn a language right now and suffice to say... we are not impressed. So we decided to abandon any other careers and be the first to finally build the future of language learning, and we need your help to do it!![]()
What We Need
- $20k to make the first chapter of the game. It funds us for around 3 months.
- Money goes to our team: developer and artist (Ehab and Matt). A small percentage (maybe a few hundred dollars) goes to pay other artists like composers and graphic designers as the needs arise.
- If you guys go crazy and fund us more than our goal, it'll allow us to start chipping away at more of the full 15 hour game!
- If you guys go really crazy maybe our CEO will finally get a salary ;) (she would very much enjoy this).
Risks & Challenges
There are very few things that our team would have to face in order for this first Faena chapter to not come to fruition. But, things happen. If Faena is unable to provide the basic needs for our team, we may have to rethink our strategy and that may pushback timelines for perk deliveries. Either way, we'll keep everyone updated on all things Faena.
