About Father Kennedy

Father Kennedy is the first play I ever completed and when it makes its premier at the Fringe Festival, it will be the first time my work ever graces a stage. I've been working on this story for 3 years and working toward achieving the dream of seeing my work performed for even longer. But this isn't simply about me. Behind me is an incredible team of actors, directors, and designers, turning my written word into a living, breathing, piece of art. This campaign is to help this incredible and passionate team put on this play at its very best.

About The Play

Father Kennedy is a comedy that follows a small town priest on an epic quest to sabotage his sister’s engagement. Along his journey, Father Kennedy confronts a former flame, enlists the help of a lascivious lingerie saleswoman, and plays Battleship in a confessional with a fellow priest. At the conclusion of the play, Father Kennedy is left profoundly changed by his experience, as he discovers more about himself, and those around him, than he could ever have imaged.

Beyond the black comedy and debauchery, Father Kennedy is an irreverent play about a collection of misfits attempting to find a place where they belong. Each character is an outcast in their community and as a result of Father Kennedy’s journey, gains a greater appreciation for their place in the world. Father Kennedy is an intimate tale about people accidentally helping and giving hope to one another in the strangest of circumstances. Come and fall in love with this band of eccentric characters in a hilarious story of love, friendship, and belonging.

About The Writer

Brian Kraker was born and raised in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, where a steady diet of diner food and turnpike traffic helped shape him into the person he is today. He currently is a graduate student at Fordham Univeristy, where he is pursuing an M.A. in English, after also studying there as an undergrad (Go Rams!) He has been in love with theater since reading Waiting For Godot for the first time in high school, which he rereads every year, hoping one time, Godot will finally make an appearance.

What We Need

  • Rehearsal Space - Yes, we're talking about practice. We have an incredibly talented cast, but even they need to rehearse their lines now and again. Your donation will help us book extra practice time leading up to opening night!
  • A Set - If we build it, they will come (or so they say). We are incredibly lucky to have the talented Ashley Petix designing our set. However, purchasing the materials (wood, paint, fireproofing) can become rather expensive. The more we raise, the more resources we can provide our amazing designer.
  • Set Transportation - Due to the logistics of the Fringe Festival, we are unable to store our entire set at our venue. Therefore, we need to rent a truck to transport it between New Jersey and New York City for each performance. That can get expensive. Your donations will help ensure our beautiful set will make an appearance at each performance!

Risks & Challenges

The risks for you as a donor are minimal. The Fringe Festival is most definitely happening and we will definitely be performing in it. So don't worry, the show will go on! You generosity makes our play happen to its fullest potential.

Other Ways You Can Help

Another amazing way to contribute is to come see the show! No matter how big or small your donation, we greatly value you taking the time to learn more about our project and hope to see you in August at the Fringe Festival!
