A highly dangerous and volatile criminal organization is running the delivery of an invaluable item but things don’t go according to plan when the appearance of a mercenary from a rival crime syndicate poses a threat to their entire operation … or does it?

A Special Forces officer turned crime syndicate operative uncovers the site of a drop being conducted by one of the world’s most dangerous, underground criminal organizations. With his syndicate’s mission of eradicating this rival organization, he infiltrates the drop site in an attempt to recover an invaluable item and locate the group’s notorious leader. However, things go astray when he is unexpectedly forced to deal with one of their organization’s most reputable mercenaries. Under unforeseen circumstances, he must now use his advanced training and act quickly in order to accomplish his mission and survive this encounter. With the conclusion of a brutal fight and the help of an old friend he finds himself struggling with the decision to return to the old standards and morals he has since left in the past or continue on his path of assured self-destruction.

From the very beginning my vision for this project was quite simple: to create a professional, high-quality cinematic experience on a low-budget with a local team of enthusiastic and talented up-and-coming stunt performers, actors and crew. As an introduction to indie filmmaking, I want to create a tremendous learning experience for not only myself but for other creative and passionate individuals who don’t normally have the opportunity to work on such a production. If nothing else I’d like to use this opportunity to learn all the ins and outs of indie filmmaking and take a peek into the extensive world of professional action cinema. From coordinating stunts, location scouting, recruiting talent/crew all the way to final edits, sound mixing and marketing I will help drive this project to assure that my vision reads brilliantly through the audience’s eyes.

With such an ambitious project I have assembled a creative team of extraordinary, local artists. The likes of which include Simon Fletcher Li, an extremely talented martial artist and action choreographer, Paul Persic, a trusted filmmaker with invaluable indie action film experience, Jade Robertson, a highly-proficient producer and assistant director in the indie film circuit, as well as several other key team members. With this team in place, I am confident that we will be able to deliver top-quality content and set a standard for indie action cinema in Canada.

Ultimately I want to help others to see the tremendous amount of talent and passion that Canada, more specifically Toronto, has to offer within action filmmaking. Once completed, I’d like to submit to local and international film festivals in Canada, US & abroad to do my part to highlight Toronto’s local performance and filmmaking abilities. Additionally, in the event that the film scores well, we'll hopefully find a short film distributor! Littered with exceptional stunt work, technical action sequences, strong performances and an entirely practical perspective, this film aims to make any cinema enthusiast an immediate fan and hopes to leave you wanting more.

With regards to aesthetic and tone, the film draws inspiration from such works as John Wick,The Transporter, The Raid and Mortal Kombat Rebirth. The action will be fast paced, technically strong and brutal. Additionally, all stunts will be performed practically at the discretion of each performer’s abilities. With regards to filming technique, we plan to use longer, dynamic filming styles to avoid the overuse of jump cuts, emphasize the performance of the stunt-actors and create visually stunning sequences. At the core of this film is the action; we have built a strong story and script but with regards to the director’s vision the action will take centre-stage in this production. With brutal fights, strong martial content, acrobatic movements and a fun overarching story this film hopes to pay homage to the camera styles of John Wick, the exciting fight choreography behind The Raid and The Transporter and the dark undertone of Mortal Kombat Rebirth.

Location, location, location!

Location is everything in filmmaking and getting the right spot to shoot a project is always an extremely important task.  We've officially booked Millworks Creative as our primary location for our shoot and are so excited to be using their incredible space!

Jamie Hegland

Stunt Actor [ON THIS PROJECT: Producer / Director / Stunt-Actor]

When it comes to stunts and action filmmaking Jamie Hegland is obsessed. His fascination with different movement styles and love for action cinema directly lent itself to his decision in pursuing a career in professional stunt work for film/television. This passion developed from a young age, going through many unique stages including: improv, theatre, dance and stage combat. Jamie has performed on countless occasions with several improv troupes, been cast in numerous amateur theatrical productions (such as Treasure Island, Don’t Dress for Dinner and Mamma Mia) and has worked on various indie films and commercial sets as a stunt performer and actor. His physical training background consists mostly of wrestling, kickboxing, mixed martial arts, tricking and stage combat (including weapons training for several sword disciplines, bo staff and more). From practicing martial arts to training fight choreography he is consistently working to physically improve and learn all there is about the film industry and stunt community. Jamie is very excited to gain critical experience from this project and if all goes well he hopes to workshop new ideas and create more opportunities for other up-and-coming artists.

Jade Robertson

Producer [ON THIS PROJECT: Producer / 2nd Unit Director]

Born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie and now based in Toronto with 5 years of experience under his belt, Jade Robertson has produced 2 feature films WILDFIRE & SPANDREL, the festival-award winning THE BURGLAR, a short Documentary on the Electronics Recycling Association and a few other projects in development to boot! He currently holds 2 roles in the cultural sector of the Canadian film industry, one as a Client Service Coordinator at Post-Production facility Rolling Pictures and one as a Social Media Manager for Production company Buck Productions. His passion for out-of-the-box storytelling and creating engaging content comes in multiple forms — whether that be writing for film/web, livestream interviews or collabing with creative partner Nicholas Janzen for TIKTOK... Jade looks to bring his diverse set of skills to the team in bringing this out-of-the-box idea to the screen!

Simon Fletcher Li

Stunt Performer / Coordinator [ON THIS PROJECT: Action Designer / Stunt Coordinator / Beta Camera]

Simon Fletcher Li was born in China. His father, Li Ting Hue, was an actor in Chinese cinema and Simon was inspired to work in the film industry himself when he grew up. While in China Simon began practicing Wushu at the age of 8. At the age of 11 Simon moved to Canada and started a new life in a new country. He then started training in kickboxing under Coach Eric Miller and Julian Lewis. After years of training Simon competed in kickboxing at a Nation Level. When he finished school he started his career in film as an amateur stunt performer. After some time he slowly started to get the hang of things and began coordinating small non-union projects. As a fight choreographer Simon’s main inspirations stems from his love of the old and new age Hong Kong style cinema scene fighting. Several projects Simon has worked on are: Flee the Light, Psycho Goreman, Contracts, He Likes It Rough, On the Ropes and more. For this project Simon hopes to bring new and exciting fight scenes to the audience.

Paul Persic

Director / Filmmaker [ON THIS PROJECT: DOP / Alpha Camera]

Also an award winning Cinematographer for the Canadian Cinematography Awards film festival 2021.
