Short Summary
This is a start up product that will change how people floss. It will take the process of flossing and turn it into a 5 second job.
HOW IT WORKS
An
oral insert that makes effective flossing in a timely manner possible. The
mouthpiece is similar in shape to a mouth guard, open at the top and closed at
the bottom, open at the rear and closed at the front with a handle attached to
the front portion. The handle is opposite of the part that enters the mouth
first. The handle is hollow and contains a roll of floss that runs through the
inside of the mouthpiece, starting at the right side and following a prescribed
path through the respective slots (holsters). The entry point for the
string/floss is the right #8 slot and follows the designated path (see drawing/
blueprint) and finally exits through the left #8 slot. There are 15 slots
correlating with the gaps between teeth in a human being. One slot is directly
in the center, seven slots on the right side (designated as R2-R8), and seven
slots on the left side (designated L2-L8). The exit is followed by a clip that
holds the string/floss in place; and the clip and followed by a mechanism
(sharpened plastic or metal) to cut the floss/string after one is finished
using it. The handle does not contain any material on either the right or he
left side and can be pressed down for additional resistance. On the bottom of
the guard is a bite pad, made of softer material that the consumer uses with
the opposite side of the jaw to gently push the floss/string through the gaps
in their teeth resulting with a full row of flossed teeth.
What We Need & What You Get
I need roughly ten thousand dollars some of which will be to pursue legal assistance for a full utility patent, I only have a provisional application now. The rest will go towards and injection mold and the creation of the first batch of inventory. I plan on doing all organic marketing to start off and will personally go from store to store and pitch the management. I am a second year law student and a very hard worker. I was able to secure my school financing with academic scholarships. I also am currently a research assistant for one of the professors. This product is truly my baby but without the necessary funding it will be extremely difficult for this product to get off the ground.
The Impact
Many people do not floss, or floss rarely, because of the amount of time required to floss between the gap of ever tooth. This product will promote dental hygiene while also being lucrative for those involved. I have a vision for this product but need some support in the adolescence of my campaign.
Risks & Challenges
The largest challenges this campaign faces is producing inventory and getting in front of the people who can make large purchase order decisions. Or those that may want to license the product. Despite a lack of entrepreneurial history I have a proven tract record of hard work, persistence, and consistency.
Other Ways You Can Help
Anyone that may know individuals at dental companies such as Oral-B or Crest and could provide contact information would be valued beyond belief.
