Short Summary
All WWII veterans have stories about their time in the
service. These may focus on specific battles, camaraderie or daily life in
their unit. Dr. Joyce Winfield shares 21 of these stories in the book: Forever
Heroes: A Collection of World War Stories from Nebraska Veterans.
What We Need & What You Get
We are seeking money for the publication of this book. Specifically, funds raised will be used to not only produce and market the book, but to provide each of the veterans interviewed with his or her own personal copy, free of charge.
We have created a series of rewards in exchange for your support of this project, which include both print copies and audio copies of the book.
The Impact
According to statistics released by the Veteran's Administration, our World War II veterans are dying at a rate of approximately 492 a day. Of the 16 million men and women who served our nation in World War II, about 855,070 are still alive. As one veteran told us, “I’m 91 years old, and in five or six years there won’t be any more of us.” That is precisely why their stories have to be told now.
Risks & Challenges
Because of the age of our veterans, time is of the essence. Our goal is to have this book available for veterans, their families, and their friends by Veterans' Day, 2016.
Other Ways You Can Help
