Film Synopsis
Father James is a priest at a small, rural church. Recently he has been haunted by the apparition of a woman, maybe someone he once knew. He believes his past wrongdoings are the cause of this, so he confesses his sins to hopefully put the soul at rest. This really only makes matters worse...
About (A Movement)
It goes without saying, this year has been downright strange, crazy, and flat out weird. 2020 has been one of the worst years on record for most, if not all of you reading this right now. We figured we might as well assist in the chance to return to normal. As stated in our invitation video, the fear and uncertainty we’ve felt throughout this entire year is overwhelming. We want to provide an escape into another realm of fear, the scares that, before this year, we were most in tune with. Our horror film is more than any horror film, it’s a step forward in the return to normalcy. By contributing, you not only help us express our creativity through film, you are also helping us create an escape--from this strange new reality--for you. We’ll provide you with the horror that you want to look forward to.
Our Budget
We are raising $9,797. Now that seems like an awful lot of money for a short film, right? Let’s put things into perspective; the average independent feature film premiering at Sundance film festival costs around $750,000 to make; a very conservative estimate. That ends up breaking down to around over $8,300 per minute of film, with an average film lasting around 90-minutes. Our film is estimated at around 16 minutes; costing a little over $612 per minute. Suffice it to say, we are cutting costs and working on a guerilla-tight budget. Let’s break these costs down for you:
CAST
Daily pay rates for our actors in the film. We need good talent, and they won’t just work for free.
CREW
The same goes for the crew as it does for our cast. Good work needs equally good pay.
TRAVEL AND TRANSPORTATION
We’re filming on location in Northern Pennsylvania. This will cover the costs to get there and back plus cover the costs of lodging and travel for cast and crew.
EQUIPMENT
Expenses for a professional camera, prime lenses, professional microphones, and audio recording devices.
VISUAL EFFECTS
It’s a gruesome horror film, we couldn’t deliver without some terrifying visual effects, could we?
CATERING
Being in a remote area to film, we’re going to need food prepared daily to provide for our entire cast and crew.
COVID-19 SAFETY
This is a new environment to make a film in, and safety precautions will be needed to be taken to the highest degree. This will cover the costs of taking precautionary measures such as daily screenings, cleaning supplies, and masks so we can stomp out any possibility of an outbreak on our set.
PROPS
Covers all of our props and costumes used throughout the film.
EDITING AND MUSIC
This will allow us to use some high-level software to edit and color our film, as well as pay for a composer or buy music licensing.
DISTRIBUTION
This mainly includes the submission fees of the festivals we are planning on getting into; Sundance, Telluride, Maryland Film Festival, etc.
CAMPAIGN AND MARKETING
Finally, this covers the costs of fees taken out for Indiegogo from our campaign. This also covers the costs of creating the wonderful perks that we’re using to thank our thoughtful donors.
Perks
The idea behind perks is to give you an incentive to donate your money, by getting something cool in return. We have a variety of perks. The ones I’m most excited about are our T-Shirt’s, Executive Pack, and candles. Our T-Shirt's feature 3 different designs, one with our company logo on it, with our campaign logo, and lastly something fun that combines both. All of these are made to order, printed in-house by our team. Our Executive Pack is for those that want it all--nearly every perk on our list is included plus an exclusive opportunity to be labeled as an Executive Producer on our film. Lastly, our candles are handmade soy candles, crafted by our team in-house. Not only do these candles have beautiful scents, but they also tie in with the theme of our film. We want to thank you for your support, but sometimes words aren’t enough. Let some cool gifts do the talking as well.
Why You?
There are hundreds if not thousands of films asking for money right now. On top of that, on Indiegogo alone there are many other creative endeavors that are also asking for your credit card number. At the end of the day, it’s not about us, it’s about you. Our entire idea behind this campaign is to bring back some normalcy to our daily lives. This year has been arguably the roughest sailing for a lot of us for a lot of reasons. Film and movies provide the magic of suspending the audience’s disbelief. We watch a movie, and somehow it all just makes sense. Since this year hasn’t made any sense, why don’t we escape to something that’s always made sense: good, exciting film. That’s what we promise because we want to make this film for you.
Other Ways to Help
Asking for financial support isn’t always easy, and sometimes we don’t even want that from the person reading this. Spreading the word is the #1 way you can help us in this effort to raise money for our film. A tweet, share, post, email, text, or friendly mention in a conversation goes a long way for us. So please, if you can’t donate, we ask you to share this with friends, families, or even on social media. Your help won’t go unnoticed and we will thank you on end. Also, if you believe you can offer any support in the actual production of the film, please email me at samueldraper4@gmail.com
