Overview
This is Franklin Street. Franklin Street is a short film about Maya and her older brother Davy, who falls on the autism spectrum. Like most big brothers, Davy gets on Maya's nerves. You are part of this film's inception, meaning you can follow our progress here, and donate funds if you like what you see. This film has a narrator who explains all the subtext. That narrator is me. Welcome to Franklin Street.

The Story

This is Maya. Maya is 9 years old.

This is Davy, her brother who falls on the autism spectrum. Davy is 15 years old.

This film is their life. It is based on true events. It is set to classical music for their enjoyment.

Maya likes ballet, the color pink, and speaking her mind.
She dislikes guillotines and being expected to look after her older brother Davy.         Davy likes riding his bike, the French Revolution, and spouting random facts from books he's read, especially Les Misérables.
He dislikes royalty, and disappointing his little sister, Maya.

Over the course of this story, Maya grapples with Davy's neuro-divergent behaviors. She grows to love him, as the family faces the emotional struggles that come with raising a young man with autism.

Financial Goal

This short film is being made by students at JPC. They have been working tirelessly to bring this story to life. They have had quite a bit of experience with making films and are ready to take on this ambitious project.

A wise man once said, "Nothing in this life is free." Making a film is no exception. The equipment rentals and the man hours alone are enough to make our producers sweat. Please help ensure our producers make it to the age of thirty.

A wiser man once said, "It takes a village." Making a film is no exception. Like in a village, a filmset requires many different tasks to be completed by the people who can best execute them. The task you can best execute from the comfort of your home, is to donate to Franklin Street.

Pies are usually low cost dessert items that taste delicious. When they are French Cinema Finance Pies, however, they tend to be back breaking, and dry as cardboard.

The Team

This is Beth Drozda, our Director.

Beth likes changing her hair color, directing movies, and petting her hairless cat. She dislikes romance.

This is Maria Oscilowski, our Producer and Writer.

Maria likes bicycle jumps, writing, and dark humor. She dislikes the word “immense.”

This is Elisabeth Perez, our Associate Producer.

Elisabeth likes playing the violin, purple sunsets, and saying sorry. She dislikes the sound of feet rubbing on carpets and the fact that she says sorry so much.

This is Tom Zupicich, our other Associate Producer.

Tom likes giving high fives, shaving his head, and wearing Dad shorts. He dislikes spending money, Los Angeles traffic, and my accent.

This is Christian Cuevas, our Director of Photography.

Christian likes dank memes, and making movies. He also likes Beth. He dislikes that Beth dislikes romance.

This is Mary Flynn, our Assistant Director.

Mary likes doing impressions, making people laugh, and feminism. She dislikes being interrupted, unfinished lists and…

This is Thomas Herbold, our Editor.

Thomas likes locking himself away in a small room to space over footage for hours on end and doing impressions of Tommy Wiseau. He dislikes discomfort and sunlight.

This is John Weaver, our Casting Director and Social Media Manager.

He likes the theater, Harley Quinn, and fantasy novels. He dislikes his downstairs neighbors complaining about his acting rituals, poor word choices, and world hunger.

Other Ways You Can Help

Along with monetary support, or in lieu of it, I encourage you to help in the following ways:

Hug a filmmaker in your life. Their job is almost as stressful as narrating.

Support autism organizations. This is not a problem to fix. These are people who need love and understanding like the rest of us.

Follow us on Facebook, use #franklinstreet, and share all our content. I mean all of it.
