FREE CeCe! Home Stretch
Told through the voices of Laverne Cox and CeCe McDonald, FREE CeCe! boldly confronts the epidemic of violence against transgender women of color. By unpacking the story of CeCe McDonald, who survived a racist and transphobic attack in Minneapolis in 2011, the film explores her incarceration, release, and life after prison as an advocate and prison abolitionist.
Now, it's time for post-production! We have completed filming and we are currently creating a rough cut. This process requires us to hire editors, purchase equipment and develop graphics. Your contribution will help us complete an amazing rough cut by Fall 2015, and ultimately release the film in 2016.

What We Have Raised So Far
This film has received financial support for filming, but not for post-production. For filming, FREE CeCe! has been supported by the Ford Foundation, H.van Ameringen Foundation, Jerome Foundation, Ted Snowdon Foundation, UltraViolet, individual donations, and last year's Indiegogo campaign, for a total of $207,000 -- about half of the total film budget.

What We Need Now
FREE CeCe! needs $35,000 from individual donors for this summer's post-production: hiring editors, artists, motion graphic editors, and musicians. With $35,000, we can create a rough cut that we will use to raise the rest of the budget from major foundations and distributors. Then, we can complete post-production and show the finalized film nation-wide. Raising $35,000 this summer keeps us on track to show the film, in theaters and then online, in 2016.
