Why support FurniQi?

We, Fonesalesman, made Wireless Charging for the iPhone possible here on Indiegogo with the iQi Mobile. We surpassed our initial goal by more than 500%. Next, we went Completely Wireless with the QiStone+ and brought design to wireless charging with the Nature-Infused WoodPuck: Bamboo Edition which was a proving ground for what would become FurniQi of today.

FurniQi is a whole different ball game for us as a team. We know our wireless charging, but are new to the world of furniture. We have decided that this risk was worth taking on as, in our eyes, FurniQi is the future of charging. In order to succeed in fighting the giants of the furniture world, we need your support and feedback; which is why Indiegogo is an ideal platform for FurniQi to materialize on.

How does Wireless Charging work?

Qi Wireless Charging isn’t all Hocus-Pocus and Mysterious Voodoo. Wireless power transfers through electromagnetic induction, which means that with inductive charging, power reaches the device through electromagnetic fields instead of through a traditional cable. You need a transmitter (a wireless charging pad) and a receiver to charge your device. Receivers are either built into the device already, such as with the Samsung S6, or they can be easily installed onto a device, like the iPhone.

1. What is FurniQi? 

FurniQi is a sleek and stylish side table that incorporates wireless charging stations to make recharging your phone that one step easier. It is a contemporary and functional concept of furniture, designed to fit seamlessly into the modern home.

2.  Why is it called FurniQi and how is it pronounced?

The Chinese term for energy is ‘Qi’ (pronounced ‘Chee’). Thus, the essence of the product: furniture and energy we merged to create FurniQi. Qi is also the most common wireless standard and has been around for a long time - large corporations like Samsung and Google have already implemented this technology in their phones, but it is also used in other devices like the Motorola Moto 360 Smartwatch.

3. How does it work?

FurniQi uses wireless charging technology to charge your phone just by placing it on the charging spot (no wires necessary!). Wireless power transfers through electromagnetic induction, which means that with inductive charging, power reaches the device through electromagnetic fields instead of through a traditional cable.

4. Is it completely wireless?

In terms of charging your phone, yes it is. However, in order to power the charging station, FurniQi will need to be plugged in (using a very discreet cable).

5. What is FurniQi made out of?

The FurniQi side table is built using Hand-Harvested Mao Zhu Bamboo (grown in China), surpassing the appearance of wood. This type of bamboo grows ten times quicker than wood, making it possible to be harvested and utilized in an incredibly sustainable way. Next, we infused the bamboo table with a dash of our Wireless Charging magic, making it pleasing for the eye, but also an unbelievably useful object.

6.  Does it come in different colours or sizes?

At this stage, FurniQi only comes in one size and colour. However, dependent on demand/success of the initial Indiegogo campaign, we will consider extending the FurniQi range.  

7. How many  charging spots are there?

At the moment, FurniQi has only one charging spot (except if you’re getting the ‘Table for Two’ perk which includes FurniQi with two charging spots). However, depending on feedback from the launch campaign, we will consider all options and the product may be updated. 

8.   Will all smartphones work with FurniQi?

FurniQi incorporates wireless charging that works with Qi compatible smartphones or receivers. Receivers are either built into the device already, such as with the Samsung S6, or they can be easily installed onto a device, like the iPhone. 9. Can I use FurniQi like any other table?

Yes. With the function of a table in mind, the wireless charging station has been completely water sealed. Water on the surface of the table will not be a hazard or cause any damage to the wireless charger.

10. When will I receive my FurniQi?

A few early panda backers will be the lucky ones to receive their FurniQi’s before  Christmas; the rest will be shipped post-campaign in March 2016.

11. Is FurniQi compatible with Duracell Powermat?

No, FurniQi is not compatible with Duracell Powermat. Our devices are based on Qi Wireless Standard, supported by companies such as Samsung, Google, Microsoft, LG, Sony, others. Our devices are supported by a wide variety of retailers, including McDonalds, International Airports, Marriott Hotels, and many others.

Duracell Powermat products are based on PMA technology and are supported by companies such as AT&T. PMA devices can be used in the Starbucks chain of cafeterias. General Motors vehicles only support PMA.

We chose to pursue a more popular standard which is widely supported, has larger numbers of participating retailers and has larger numbers of supported accessories you could use our products with.

12. How do I add $10 to get a receiver for my phone?

Underneath every perk you can add 'Additional Gift' to your contribution, so if you put $10 in there we know that we need to send you the receivers. We will get in touch to find out which receiver you wish to get at a later date.

Comment la Recharge Sans Fil fonctionne ?

La Recharge Sans Fil Qi n’est pas du tout un Abracadabra ou un mystère Vaudou. L’énergie Sans Fil se transfère par induction électromagnétique, ce qui signifie que, avec la recharge inductive, l’énergie atteint l'appareil à travers les champs électromagnétiques au lieu de passer par un câble traditionnel. Vous avez besoin d'un émetteur (le chargeur sans fil) et d’un récepteur QI pour recharger votre appareil. Les récepteurs sont soit déjà intégrés dans l’appareil, c’est le cas du Samsung S6, ou bien ils peuvent être facilement installés sur un téléphone, comme avec l'iPhone par exemple.

Come funziona la Ricarica Wireless?

La Ricarica Wireless Qi non è fatta di abracadabra e voodoo misterioso. L'alimentazione wireless viene trasferita attraverso l'induzione elettromagnetica, il che significa che con la carica induttiva, la corrente raggiunge il dispositivo attraverso i campi elettromagnetici invece che attraverso un cavo tradizionale. Avete bisogno di un trasmettitore (un pad di ricarica wireless) e di un ricevitore per caricare il vostro dispositivo. I ricevitori sono già inseriti nel dispositivo, come nel caso di Samsung S6, oppure possono essere facilmente installati in un dispositivo, come per iPhone.
