THE PROBLEM
“The door to education was shut on me. My family is too hungry to think of my education”. - H. D., PNV student of Class 2020-2023.
“My mother was in a lot of debt just to barely afford to eat the next day.” - D. V., PNV alumni of Class 2014-2016.
The students’ stories in the short film are just two disclosed cases among millions of young Vietnamese living in poverty. UNDP reported that the percentage of households living below the poverty line had increased from 11.3% in December 2019 to 50.7% in April 2020 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite having a golden population structure, Vietnam now faces a huge economic challenge, in that half of the young adults aged 16 to 20 are under-educated. Of course, the primary reason for this is the lack of financial capital.
Therefore, students consider dropping out of school to start working to earn money at a young age. These students need a new #GatewayForLife. With limited education, they could end up doing extremely low-paying labour or even becoming victims of human trafficking.
OUR SOLUTION IS TO PROVIDE A #GATEWAYFORLIFE
In today's era of the digital revolution, the demand for IT-related jobs is increasing. It means that IT professionals will have higher opportunities to secure long-term and well-paid work. This is the gateway that our students are looking for.
Therefore, every year, Passerelles numériques Vietnam (PNV) offers a free 3-year IT training program at our center, for the most vulnerable and marginalized youths aged 18-23 in Vietnam. Our mission is to truly develop our students’ employability which will allow them and their families to escape poverty in a sustainable way. PNV’s additional objective is to reduce inequality between genders by setting the enrollment ratio of at least 50% female students.

With a focus on quality over quantity, PNV provide an intensive, holistic program in both hard and soft skills necessary for our students to become future experts in digital technology - the industry that has facilitated profound economic growth and employment. PNV strongly commits to delivering solid technical and practical training in Software Development and Testing. This training opens a gateway to a new life, where students can earn reliable income in an advanced field instead of manual labor.
“Without PNV, I would still be toiling away endlessly on this paddy field” - Linh, Alumni of PNV’12, confessed to us on our trip to his hometown. From a poor village in Quang Tri, Linh has come a long way to reach great accomplishments today as a technology engineer at Gojek Singapore with a desirable 6-figure salary.
Designed to match local company needs, our curriculum also places special emphasis on IT practice via:
- Practical projects with industrial mentors & 7 months of on-the-job training
- Two periods of internship
- English language in IT and TOEIC tests
- High-level expertise such as logical thinking and communication
Additionally, PNV strives to empower our students in the following ways:

WHY DO WE NEED THIS MONEY?
Our goal this year is to support 130 students in different aspects of their lives: 1-year tuition fee, 1-year dormitory fee, and 1-year allowance.
With 100 000 EURO, in one year, we can provide for 130 potential IT talents:
- 4000 hours of free education
- 50 classes of programming, intensive English and personal development skills
- 18 dormitory rooms in 12 months for 130 students
- 27000 full meals
Most importantly, great hope and kindness. The students will have stronger-than-ever willpower to make achievements in their studies and careers.
Passerelles Numériques Vietnam is cost-effective. The funding raised in this #GatewayForLife campaign will go directly to tuition fees, living expenses, and equipment for our students. We do not spend your contribution on marketing or administrative expenses. Be assured that you are directly contributing to better education and living conditions for underprivileged students.
PNV guarantees our donors a transparent use of funds as every expense is carefully monitored to accommodate the students’ needs and benefit them to the fullest extent possible. You can learn more about PNV’s financial policy in our annual reports.
HOW WE HAVE TRANSFORMED LIVES
Our long-term social impacts in Vietnam over the last decade

Students graduating from PNV earn an average of $755 per month while the average monthly income of a person living in Vietnam is $200. What is more, PNV’s indirect beneficiaries extend beyond our students’ families and hometowns to include the local and global Tech communities. Linh, one of PNV’s most outstanding alumni featured in the short film, is a top 0,24% contributor worldwide with a reach of 24 million on Stack Overflow - a public platform for developers and technologists to learn, share and collaborate.
Above all, PNV has taught Linh to be kinder, to himself and to others, but not in any explicit book-learning ways. “Being immersed in an environment that promotes equality and kindness, I always have an urge to better myself every day by helping others.” - Linh recalls. That is why Linh volunteered to come back and tutor our current students; he also tried to assist other technologists on global forums whenever possible. Linh is spreading the same unconditional kindness he had received from PNV all those years ago.
