The Project

This film will be diirected by Eric Daniel Dunn and backed by ECTOFi Productions based in Great Falls, Montana. Dunn's previous work includes Piece by Piece and is currently working on Bootlegger Trail. 

Due to demolition concerns surrounding the old state hospital, the filming schedule was moved up significantly to ensure that filming could, in fact, take place. Cast, crew and many locals are very supportive and extremely passionate about the historic Kirkbride as well as this project, so it was decided to take the opportunity and begin filming while it was still possible. That said, we have a brief amount of time to raise funds for this one-of-a-kind project.

A contribution at any level with help maintain the project's viability and the entire cast and crew are appreciative for any and all support.

What's This Film All About?

Geist is a pyschological thriller set in the town of Fergus Falls, Minnesota at the historic Kirkbride Asylum. A sinister demon spirit referred to as 'The Butcher' kidnaps, tortures and murders children until Bruce (Danny Lopez, number one Johnny Depp impersonator), the groundskeeper comes upon their bodies in the Kirkbride. Spiritual phenomena take over leaving Bruce unaware of what has happened. In the meantime, the spirits of the dead children connect with other humans who can see, hear and feel their presence. Knowing they need help, they assist a team of paranormal investigators who attempt to release the spirits of these dead children, leaving the demonic spirit unable to kill any more. Bruce battles the demon and does everything in his power to save the children.

Funding Needs

Much of the production and film crew have donated their time simply because it's a once in a lifetime opportunity to film a project of this magnitude at such a local and historical landmark. That said, we do need to be able to provide food and certain amenities to our cast and crew during our month-long stint at the state hospital.

• Food and beverage for cast and crew during filming,
• Trailer/RV rental and/or portable bathrooms (no running water on-site).

The majority of the funding will contribute to the listed items above, however, depending on cast needs there may be minimal use of these funds to assist with purchasing of costumes, make-up and props.

We value any and all contributions and to show our gratitude and appreciation for your donation we've developed a number of "perks" or rewards for those who decide to donate.

• $100: all of the above plus a digital download of the completed film (post-release)
• $500: all of the above plus your name will be listed in the film credits
• $1000: all of the above plus a one-day visit to the set for a "meet and greet" with cast and crew (June 13-30)

The Impact

Your contribution to this project WILL make a significant difference! If the fact that a movie being filmed at such a historical landmark with exquisite architecture that is being threatened with demolition isn't enough, how about the fact that this most unique and personal project will make history in our region? An independent film taking place in the lovely Fergus Falls at the historic Kirkbride Asylum, with much of the cast and crew consisting of local talent. It's the trickle effect, just watch.
