Overview
Imagine that you're trapped in a small room, you have a bed, a table, and a Goldfish. You can't remember anything beyond this room. Join us in our process of creating a black and white Horror film, which will have you questioning morality, and will have you on the edge of your seat through it all.

Short Summary

The story we want to tell is the mystery of why our character '123556' is trapped in a small room, and whether we should trust the characters he meets on the way. A mixture of dystopian and horror genres combine to create Goldfish.

We won't give you everything straight away, but here are some previews:

Meet the Team!

Laurie Jenkins - Writer & Director

Laurie Jenkins is an English student, video editor and director currently based in Edinburgh, Scotland. During his time at university, he developed his knowledge of filmmaking by working as an editor on several Scottish short films ranging from documentary, period drama and science fiction. Laurie has written and directed three short films, working with actors based in Edinburgh. He is currently in his final year at university and 'Goldfish' is his graduation project. Laurie is interested in exciting characters and memorable stories that don't give everything away at the beginning.

Wayne Mazadza - Cinematogragher & Colour Grader

Wayne is an enthusiastic and ambitious cinematographer with an eye for precision and artistic detail. After moving from Harare, Zimbabwe, to Edinburgh in 2010 he immediately started off in set design and live performance. He continued to work within the industry as a freelance videographer, content producer and editor, claiming a BAFTA nomination as well as a Royal Television of Scotland nomination in 2016. Wayne understands the power that the camera brings as a means of communication that allows the director and their team to bring the viewer intimately into a story.

Ryan Kerr - Sound Mixer & Location Recordist

Ryan Kerr is a Sound Designer, Sound Recordist and Live Engineer currently finishing his Higher National Diploma in Sound Production at Edinburgh College. Over the past few years he has been working within the Scottish Independent Film Industry, collaborating with several different production teams. He is also involved in the Edinburgh live music scene as a Live Engineer, including providing his services at various Scottish Music Festivals such as Hidden Door and Kelburn Garden Party.

Jonathan Fyfe - Music Composer

Jonathan is a Private Music Teacher in Edinburgh but also composes Music for Screen as well after achieving a Master of Science with Merit in Composition for Screen from the University of Edinburgh. He has worked on a handful of Student Films and other works. Most notably he wrote the music for the Documentary “To Be a Torero” which has been screened and nominated for awards at Film Festivals around Europe. He has worked with Director Laurie on previous films so they both have experience of working side by side. Jonathan is excited for the project as he feels he will be able to produce music fitting to the dark and gritty style of the depicted world in the film.

Joe Kennard - Gaffer & Lighting

Joe Kennard currently studies at the University of Edinburgh in his second year studying astrophysics but always keeping his passion for film in sight by continuously helping on student film projects. In recent collaborations, cinematography and editing have been his focus whilst also working and training other roles such as gaffer and assistant editor.

Manon Marrum-Sauvageot - Script Supervisor

Manon has just finished her 2nd year of study at QMU where she is studying all aspects of film-making but thanks to this particular project has decided to specialise in script supervising. She has worked and is working on a few student films at the moment and I'd loving every second of it!

Why Your Contribution Will Change The World!

Well, it will definitely change our world. The film was completely self-produced, meaning that all the costs were covered by film students, who worked day and night to make it happen. All we want now is to share the story with the world and with you. So join us on this quest (and get some cool perks along the way, too).

With your donation we’ll be able to pay submission fees that will give us the opportunity to get Goldfish screened at film festivals and get this film out there!

Other Ways You Can Help

For this campaign to be successful we need all the help we can get, but we understand that not everyone can donate - so please share our campaign and help us spread the word about Goldfish!
