ABOUT THE PLAY

Maud Gonne has taken to the stage to tell the story of her life. For the sake of ‘balance’, W.B. Yeats has also taken to the stage to tell the story of her life. You can decide for yourselves which version you believe, but Yeats’ has more romance and alliteration. Also, he has a Nobel Prize, so…

Join Maud as she takes you through the momentous events of her life - her affair with a French republican, leading protests against the British Empire, dabbling in the occult and a short but significant acting career - to weave a complex portrait of a woman fighting for the right to fight. There may be some interruptions from Yeats, who doesn’t feel their one-sided romance gets the attention it deserves in Maud’s script, and Lady Gregory, who just wants everyone to get along. Expect poetry, protests, and a slight deviation from historical fact, as Maud challenges her legacy as an artistic muse.

WHY WE NEED HELP
In order to fund this show we need to pay our venue, artists and build a rather kick ass set the materials of which don't come cheap. We'll also put the money towards the most effective marketing possible to make sure we sell out and put the money to good use

Your money will help keep us afloat through the rest of the process and make sure everyone is fairly paid at the end too! 

WHO EVEN ARE WE?
The Unamused Theatre team come from an eclectic mix of arts background and together have sold out our Dublin Fringe show 'Down the Drain' in 2018. 

The biggest fear is always selling tickets. We know that our collective experience will ensure tickets are sold and audiences are entertained! Simples 

As a team we have been to a lot of quizzes and open mics recently and sometimes people are sick of these. Using online funding allows us to target people interested in our project and offer them rewards without restricting them to time constraints.
