Gunhand is an independent feature film that is a traditional Western like the classic films of old, but with a modern twist. More traditional in the sense that it will not be a zombie, alien or vampire Western. Partly inspired by European graphic novels, it will not be an action packed blockbuster, but will feel more like an independent thriller. The goal is to make a Western that is harsh, gritty and grounded in realism with a character driven story. The plan is to shoot the film in Europe, like many Italian westerns produced in the 1960’s. We will shoot the film in the Netherlands and Spain.

The wild landscapes associated with the Western still lend themselves extremely well to a visual medium such as film. The isolation of the uncivilised west, remains a wonderful setting to tell human stories where the true nature and character of men is put to the test. Timeless themes such as love, hate, loyalty and revenge can be presented in their purest form. Another significant reason why Westerns are interesting, is because the latter half of the 19th century was a turning point in the history of man. Due to the industrialisation and mass emigration that helped create the society we know and live in today.

“With a western in mind, you think of anamorphic lenses, vast landscapes and extreme close ups. But with Gunhand, I want to take another approach. Because the story is character driven, I really want the audience to feel the presence of the actors. I want to achieve this by shooting wider, even the close ups are gonna be shot on wide lenses. This will give it the feel that you’re really in the scene itself, instead of observing the actors as a fly on the wall. Another reason why this film is gonna have a very wide look and feel, is because I want to capture those beautiful landscapes that really are a signature for westerns itself.” David van der Meijde

“Gunhand is a film that I’ve been carrying with me since childhood. Growing up in a very small town in Canada in the 1970’s and 80’s, the movie theater for me was the best and only escape from the mundane and ordinary. I distinctly remember seeing my first Western on the big screen at the age of seven. It had a huge impact on me. I enjoyed immersing myself in those worlds, through reading Western novels and comics. Eventually I studied American History at the University of Guelph in Ontario. As I got older, I began discovering the many forms the Western genre has taken since the early 1900’s. And I realised how timeless and wonderful the frontier setting is to tell all forms of human stories.
Gunhand was originally written to be made into a comic or graphic novel. But in 2012 we decided to see if it could be made into a film, and I began turning it into a low budget screenplay. Bringing sense of realism to a Western film and still presenting the story and characters in a modern and entertaining way, is a challenge I’m looking forward to.” Rey Agaoglu

He played for the Amsterdam Admirals in the NFL-Europe League from 1996-2001. Outside of football, Rey developed his Storyboard Animation skills at the Cartoon School in Amsterdam. Since 2003 he writes, produces and directs his own films.

David van der Meijde was born in a very creative environment; His father is a successful photographer and his mother was a famous hat designer. Little David noticed he loved movies more than his friends did. He watched as many films and series as he could and drew characters and environments from them.
The real magic happened when he went to the movies and saw Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings. The worlds on the big screen captivated him and it almost felt to him those adventures were real.
When he got older, he started to compose his own music and at college he studied film. During his college period, he did commercial projects as a camera operator and editor. After his graduation in 2012, the video productions got bigger and bigger. That’s when he started his own production company, Welldone Pictures.

Born and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Erman Baradi’s entertainment career began when working with No Malice (previously Malice) of the Grammy-nominated rap duo The Clipse.
With a knack for event production, Erman would become the industry’s go-to guy for booking panels/speakers and executives. Under his previous banner The Rel/event series, Erman has booked over 90 leading industry professionals.
MixKnowledgy (The company of Erman & Brandon) would love to see Gunhand success in all aspects of the filmmaking process from the funding to the production to the post-production and marketing, as we believe in the vision of the filmmakers based on their campaign. We believe we have the energy and resources to successfully aid in the film. In return, we grow alongside the project and become better producers.

Brandon is an aspiring producer who got into event producing when he met and helped Erman with his prior event in Hollywood. While always having an interest in storytelling, Brandon had multiple opportunities to see Hollywood films be made throughout his life, to include his time in the U.S. military and his interest grew into production.
After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he earned his degree in business management and is currently pursuing his MA in film & television production with a concentration in producing. He has interned with Hollywood producer Chris Bender of Good Fear Film + Management, formerly of Benderspink.
The amount of talent behind Michel, Rey, David and the rest of their team is amazing! They’re all very talented in their own respective roles that the opportunity to work with these guys is something I am personally very excited for. You look at the amount of time they’ve taken on getting everything together and ensuring it is perfect, you can’t do anything other than respect their vision. David’s cinematography is amazing, he honestly reminds me of a younger Emmanuel Lubezki (The Revenant, Gravity). David’s vision of Gunhand is exciting and he’s going to take that vision and something remarkable!

Since early childhood Dominique devoured hundreds of books and loved going to see plays and movies.
At the age of seven, she was mesmerized by Ariel, the Little Mermaid and hoped she could be a mermaid herself. Alas, not all dreams can come true.
What did came true though was holding that magic feeling by working in theatres. She worked on the clothing and make-up department at Stage Entertainment (Endemol) and smaller independent groups. In the past she also worked as mua for fotoshoots and short movies.
Gunhand is Dominique's first feature film.

I studied at the graphic arts school in Utrecht and worked as an illustrator at an advertising agency. In the end I started for myself in the special makeup ELCFX with Jolijn Brouwer who studies as a allround special make up artist in Amsterdam.
ELCFX has been particularly active on major exchanges such as Comic Cons and Halloween events, small short films and now the promotion team for Fox internationally The Walking Dead. And since not so long ago, we are also the special makeup advisers for Arts and Suplies on web and mold life in Europe. We also teach actors who reenact trauma hospital and ambulance staff.

David Rusting is a Dutch sound supervisor and boom operator. He always had the passion of telling stories. David: 'The thing I love the most about sound recording and designing is that it pulls the audience in to the film. Audio can easily make or brake the whole film. I see it as my job to make sure the rest of the team doesn't have to worry about any sound or dialogue not being recorded in the best possible way.'
On the set of Gunhand, David was able to help the guys out with some audio related things and improvise on the situation ahead. David: 'Gunhand is for me one of the most awesome features I have worked on. The team has so much energy and passion, you can clearly see that in the teaser we shot.'

In 2016 Martijn met David via facebook and heard about Gunhand. The striking visuals and mysterious story inspired him immediately to join the team.

Reaching our funding goal on Indiegogo is the minimum we need to raise in order to make the film. After crowdfunding we will work on getting additional funding to make the film even better. We will do so with a combination of finding co-producers, investors and will apply for various grants and tax incentives available for films in Europe.
We aim to start filming around September/October 2017 and that the film will be done in early 2018. We will start shooting the film within a year, if our crowdfunding campaign is successful.

Even with additional funding, we will not compromise on getting our backers their rewards. We will take everyone who backed us on a journey and we will make a lot of videos/photos along the way. We will have regular updates on how the projects is going and we will upload new videos every week during the crowdfunding campaign.
We will communicate with our backers. Come connect with us on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter! Facebook has the most active users of our team, so there you will get the fastest response time.
"I want backers to know me, interact with us and not just be another group of unknown filmmakers from another part of the world. In the last five years I have backed more than 20 projects on Indiegogo, Kickstarter and other platforms. I backed a lot of projects that where responsive and interacted with their backers, but sadly there were some that went dark. These projects give crowdfunding a bad name! I follow a simple philosophy: Treat another person as you would like to be treated. With crowdfunding that means that I want to treat our group of backers the same way as I would treat any other investor of $110.000,-." Michel Volwater
