Abigail hasn’t been in contact with her family since she was a teen. After they kicked her out of the house for having feelings for another girl, she swore she would never go back. But when Abigail receives a strange voicemail from her mother, she decides to dive head first into a place she never wanted to go again, her past. Abigail, her partner Zoe, and their son Sam go back to Abigail's childhood home to get closure from her mother and uncover the truth behind her strange voicemail. But when they arrive, they realize that something terrifying has happened. The only way Abigail is going to be able to save her family and herself is to confront the demons of her past.

Hallowed is a story that focuses on the rooted meaning of family, whether it be by blood or by love. It follows Abigail as she travels with her family back to her biological one. Her partner and son show support for her as she attempts to find closure with her past and with a parent that once turned her back on her. We are also able to catch a glimpse of Abigail’s mothers regrets when she decides to call Abigail and apologize to her for what happened all those years ago.
This film also has the not so underlying theme of religion. Abigail’s family turned their backs on her because of their religious beliefs and their refusal to stray from their conservative ways. Abigail’s mother wasn’t sure what to do or think when Abigail was outed but it didn’t matter anyway because her husband had already made up his mind to kick Abigail out. When Abigail’s mother decides to call Abigail she’s decided that her religious beliefs and her husband are nowhere near as important to her as her daughter.
Throughout the film we see examples of the rooted meaning of family, religious freedom, and the things that divide us. These ideas are played with despite it being a horror film.

Since COVID-19 challenges have been faced within the film community. We have to get extra equipment that will protect our cast and crew from COVID-19. In addition to that we have a limited crew. On a pre-covid set a crew can be much larger. Normally, there can be up to 50 plus crew and cast members. We are following strict guidelines set by the industry of having limited people on our cast and crew. This being a strict COVID free set we will also have to provide COVID tests for each crew/cast member, mask, sanitizer, boxed lunches and crafty, etc. We want to create and bring to life our film with a COVID free environment. To accommodate all of this about $300 of our budget will go towards the safety of everyone involved.

As we are students, any cost that we have comes out of our own pockets. Our biggest expenses are food, equipment and distribution. With your donation it will go directly towards a crew members meal or piece of equipment for our set. Below is a chart showing you exactly where the donations will go. A donation of any size is a tremendous help!

A film set is a collaborative effort. Our goal to create this production is $5,000! We are also applying for grants and other resources to reach our goal. If you are not familiar with the cost of film sets here are examples of what something may cost...
- $5 will help pay for crafty to keep our crew and cast energized throughout the day.
- $12 is a meal for a crew or cast member.
- $20 will pay for production needs throughout the day.
- $50 will pay for a prop on set.
- $100 will go towards a location per day.
- $200 will pay for the permits we will need for locations.
- $500 will pay for camera equipment.
- $1,000 will pay for distribution of the film to film festivals Internationally.
- $2,000 will cover insurance to protect our cast and crew members.
Since the pandemic hit new safety precautions have been set. Our goal is to protect everyone while we still create. That does come with more expenses. We have budgeted a Covid Safety for about $500 to buy supplies to keep our cast and crew safe!
This short is Production Design heavy to create an environment that will capture our audience. With that being said we have budgeted around $1,000 for our Art Department. That includes costumes, makeup and production design.
