Kathy Jo King (KJ to many of us) is a member of our Waldo County, Maine community - she has lived here for over 20 years. She is a massage therapist and until recently worked at the Olive Garden in Bangor. KJ has been diagnosed with a brain tumor - the 2nd substantial tumor in 6  years. Her original tumor was not fully removed and has grown back and she will need to undergo 6 weeks of radiation.

The prognosis is good - Kathy Jo is very strong and is going to pull through this physically and emotionally. Kathy Jo would not ask for help, but her friends have decided to help because KJ does not have health insurance, and because being self-employed KJ also does not have "paid time off". She plans to continue to work while receiving treatments because she feels that she simply can't afford not to.
