Dear Friends and Fans, Help Arborea create a Landmark album representing our 10 year anniversary as a duo!

Our Background: 

Since 2005, Maine based wife and husband Folk duo Shanti and Buck Curran have released 5 albums, curated two various artist compilations ('Leaves of Life' and 'We Are All One, In the Sun': a tribute to Robbie Basho), performed shows and festivals throughout the US, UK, and Europe (SXSW, Philadelphia Folk Festival, Hopscotch, Moseley Folk Festival, Green Man, Electric Picnic, Tanned Tin, etc)…including sessions for the BBC, NPR, WNYC, and WXPN.  Arborea's 4th album 'Red Planet' was released in 2011 and received critical praise; making Rolling Stone 'Best Under-the-Radar Albums of 2011', 'Editors Top Pick' Guitar Player Magazine, 'Top Vinyl Pick' Mojo Magazine, Uncut Magazine 'Top 100 Albums of 2011', and Portland Phoenix 'Top Ten Albums of 2011'. Arborea's 5th album 'Fortress of the Sun' was released April 29th, 2013 on Esp-Disk' coinciding with the label's 50th Anniversary and made AllMusic 'Favorite Folk Albums of 2013', AllMusic 'Favorite Singer/Songwriter Albums of 2013', Acoustic Guitar Magazine's 'Best Acoustic Albums of 2013', Folk Radio UK Best Albums of 2013, textura's 'Top Ten Albums of 2013', Best Of Echoes 2013 Listener Poll, and Portland Phoenix Top Ten Albums of 2013.  During 2014, Arborea's official video for the song 'After The Flood Only Love Remains, produced by NYC filmmaker Geoff Ryan, was accepted and premiered at the Chicago International Movies and Music Festival, Dances with Films Festival (Los Angeles), Moondance International Film Festival, and the NYC Independent Film Festival. Paste Magazine recently listed Arborea in their profile of top musical acts in Maine for their '50 States Project'. Bob Boilen, the host of NPR All Songs Considered, listed Arborea among his favorite concerts and recommended live acts in 2012.

Our Campaign, our next album, and our goal

2005 Will represent our 10th year as a duo and want we to celebrate by producing a very special album that will represent the culmination of all our years of dedication and hard work together as a musical duo…and with your Help this will be the Best Albums we've ever created! The album will also include some special guest musicians who've we've met during our tours around the World.  Along with their musical collaborations…Your crucial Support through donations will help us expand our musical universe to the highest level of artistry possible and help us get our magic out into the World.  And this is of Great Importance; Because we make our Living as professional musicians (by writing, recording, and touring) we also help support countless of others around the World...musicians and artists who we collaborate and play shows with, booking agents we work with, promoters and venues, etc. 

 We are hoping to raise $7,000 for the production, promotion and distribution of the album! This will help us cover the basic production costs (rehearsal, recording, paying guest musicians, mixing, mastering, manufacturing, and promotion) over the next few months, and kickstart our next tour so we can present the new songs live in 2015. Getting on the road and performing is where we feel at home...how we make our Livelihood and also where the songs really come to Life, so we're very excited about the future and where it might take us. Promotion is also a crucial element for the success of any album and touring and can be very expensive (just hiring a decent publicist for a few months to professionally promote an album can easily run several thousand dollars). We'll also produce a couple of videos for songs from the album. Video, Film, and Photography is another important part of our creativity…and producing music videos takes a lot of additional time and extra money to produce.  A great example of our work is the video for our song 'Pale Horse Phantasm' from our last album 'Fortress of the Sun'.  It was made in Maine at Acadia National Forest  with the help of our friends Brendan O'Keefe, Jarly Bobadilla, Laura Prada, and Joanna Weaver. We all worked very hard over several months to write and produce this...Shanti and Laura even handmade their dresses. As always not a penny will be wasted and we'll work has hard and frugally as possible to produce the very best album, art, videos, and live performances that we are capable of.

• If we surpass our goal of $7,000 will we invest towards making vinyl copies of the album, and expanding the vision of the album…as it will help us make more songs, more videos, and help with promotion and touring costs so we can spread our musical vision further into the World.

For years now we've also wanted to make a book of select photos that we've taken…this is a very special perk we hope some of you will be very excited about. •  If we don't reach our goal, we'll still be ever so grateful for any donations we do receive and use whatever money is raised to work on releasing a basic version of the album for digital release and a very limited run of cds.  Important to know however, until we reach our goal we are losing 9% from each contribution, in addition to Paypal processing fees. So every single doantion is crucial as this is a cumulative process..and every little bit adds up.
