About the CIPS Ethics Exam:
As part of CIPS’ mandate to establish Information Technology (IT) as a profession, CIPS has identified a need for testing knowledge and understanding of ethics in computing and IT.
A common testing methodology was developed, relevant to all IT professionals regardless of domain or technical specialization or occupation. The online exam, which is now mandatory for I.S.P. and ITCP Certification applicants, is a multiple choice, non-proctored and open-book exam. The goal of the exam is to assess IT professionals on their ability to apply ethical reasoning to certain situations and to encourage them to think about how they would respond to situations similar to those posed by the exam scenarios and questions.
The exam is for experienced and new IT practitioners and builds awareness of the key principles of professionalism and the CIPS Code of Ethics.
This exam will help you:
- Learn about the principles of the CIPS Code of Ethics
- Gain skills and confidence in dealing with issues related to professionalism and ethics by navigating through hypothetical situations
- The elements of the CIPS Code will be covered with case scenarios to help better understand the nuances and subtleties behind the Code.
There is no cost to take the exam, but donations are appreciated.
