Help Restore Historic G. Krug & Son Ironworks!
We are the oldest continually operating blacksmith shop in the United States. Been around since 1810 and it shows every now and then. We need your help to restore our building so we can continue to help build Baltimore, and, most importantly, continue to share our own 203 year history of the Charm City and it's surrounding areas.
For the last two years, we have been working on a museum to showcase the hidden treasure located at 415 West Saratoga Street. These windows that need fixed are in our storage space and are at the potential to damage a lot of our items because of the water and moisture coming through them. We need to fix them as soon as possible and WE NEED YOUR HELP to do it.
We Need to Preserve Our Building
Now, these windows are the extreme of our situation, which is why our minimum goal is at $2000, but we have some more repairs to work on as well. More windows have been less severely damaged by the storms, and the same with our roof, so we hope to get that $2000, but in all honesty, we want and need more to fix everything. We want to preserve our building as soon as possible so we can preserve the history within it to share with everyone.
Sooooo....
This is where you come in. Our goal is $2000. That is $20 from 100 people or $10 from 200 people or just $5 from 400 people. We are not looking to put the burden of funding this project on just a few people. We want you to help us share this fundraiser so everyone can pitch in a little to help restore this historic building in the heart of Baltimore.
Help us get as many people as possible to notice and donate to this fundraiser!
Your family and friends? We will appreciate them as much you for donating and helping us get the word out.
And to show our appreciation, check out all the perks we have listed on the side.
Whatever money you help us raise will be going to restoring our building so it, and everything inside it can last for another 203 years before we bother you again.
Your Money is Preserving Baltimore History
If you have ever looked around Baltimore City, you have had to notice all the metal work. Railings, fences, gates, window guards, fire escapes, tree planters, archways, etc. The fun fact is, the majority of that was made or at least restored in this building.
G. Krug & Son restored the fence around the Washington Monument at Mt. Vernon and the gates at Greenmount Cemetery. We have put doors, window guards, or railings on almost every building in the city.
So now we are asking you to help make sure this building stays here so we can keep providing for Baltimore.
Other Ways You Can Help
We know everyone can't donate, but there's still plenty you can help us do.
Show your support by leaving us a comment, and we promise you'll get a personal response right back.
Tell anyone and everyone about this. The more people that know, the more notice we gain, and the more money we can use to restore the building.
So bring it up at the water cooler, share our link to your friends on Facebook, Tweet your support and the link to our fundraising page, send out a memo at the office, print out some of our flyers and hand it out in your neighborhood, or do whatever creative thing you can to help spread the word!
But...MOST IMPORTANTLY
You all are the reason we are still here, and no matter how much we raise, we appreciate everything you have helped us accomplish.
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!
